Holiday Shoppers: Boycott Walmart, Kmart and...
If you actually believe in those “Family Values” that the Religious Right is always blubbering about, you won't want to patronize the home-wrecking assholes that are forcing their employees to work on Thanksgiving Day.
This website lists the stores that are open on Thanksgiving. Kmart (open at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving!!!), Walmart, the usual suspects...
For whatever it's worth (it's a start), there are two social media boycotts of stores that are open on Thanksgiving: Boycott Black Thursday and Boycott Shopping on Thanksgiving Day.
And here is a list of 20 stores that refuse to open on Thanksgiving.
Please shop wisely.

I, for one, boycott all stores every Thanksgiving. Count me in!
I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. We need to start getting things back in balance, at least a little.
Karlo: Me too. I wouldn't go shopping on Thanksgiving if you paid me.
Jim: I agree. This is at least a start toward getting things back in perspective, back in balance.
Of course Sam's Club is closed while Walmart is open, it's all in the same till.
Anybody remember when all stores except the 7/11 were closed on holiday and you had to really plan as 7/11 didn't have pumpkin pie spice or anything like that?
I used to love driving around on Holidays as even the super congested Bay Area roads were a breeze.
I'd settle for the grocery stores being open just for a half day again.

Erik: I too remember the good old days when practically everyone was closed on major holidays, and shoppers had to plan ahead. The lack of traffic was nice too. And not being much of a football fan, I used to love driving around on Super Bowl Sunday and savoring the empty roads. Nowadays I usually watch the game but mostly for the commercials.
Too bad it's so much about the dollars. Big chains will never close on Thanksgiving, it's just too big a money-maker... so we can help them to make less money by not taking part in the Thanksgiving day and Black Friday stuff. If enough people refused to take part, it still wouldn't be enough to get them to close, but it could help make a financial impact and *might* send them a message.
I'm encouraged that at least two Walmarts out here had employee walkouts on Black Friday, and then they protested for higher wages.
Great!
Erik
Snave: I agree, the big chains will never stop being open on Thanksgiving. All we can do is make it less profitable for them by not taking part in it.
Erik: That's very encouraging. Thanks for the news.
I prefer looting myself
