How DARE the president compare the Islamic State to the Christian Crusades?!?
At yesterday's National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama had the nerve, the unmitigated gall, to compare the Islamic State's atrocities to the Christian Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition.
After rightly condemning the terrorist tactics of the Islamic State, President Obama proceeded to insult the very concept of Manifest Destiny and American Exceptionalism:
“And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ...Part of what I want to touch on today is the degree to which we’ve seen the professions of faith used both as an instrument of great good, but also twisted and misused in the name of evil.”
That does it!
Is our Kenyan-born Muslim Socialist president even aware of the horrors being committed by the Islamic State???
The crazed jihadists of the Islamic State have committed excruciating tortures on innocent people, tortures that have never ever been imagined before.

But of course because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
I read parts of that speech and he also touched on Slavery and Jim Crow. Which I'm sure pissed off the present day Dixiecrats who were thinking "get over it already!"
Kareen Abdul Jabbar wrote a wonderful opinion for last week's Time Magazine. He pointed out Muslims should no more have to always apologize for others behavior, when Christians didn't anytime the KKK lynched a black person.

It is kind of refreshing to see Obama in his new lame duck role. He is finally reinforcing why I voted for him.
To Erik's comment regarding Kareem Abdul Jabbar's opinion that holding the Islamic world accountable for the atrocities committed in the name of their religion, well, I say bullshit. I hold Christianity accountable for the atrocities committed in their name, so I feel justified in my disgust with Islam as a whole for not stepping up in a bigger way.
Demeur: Our democratic secular (at least for now) government is the only reason we don't have a Lord's Resistance Army or Spanish Inquisition terrorizing the heathens.
Erik: Between the Dixiecrats and the "America is Number One!!!" flagtards, Obama has managed to piss off most of the GOP. Good. What are they gonna do about it? Not vote for him again? Obstruct his agenda?
MRM: I think the same standard, whatever standard that is, should apply to all religions. Either all Christians/Muslims/Jews/Hindus are accountable for the atrocities committed in their gods' names, or none of them are.
I guess I should have clarified. Of course the flock of any religion should be held accountable, or should I say, the first group held accountable for terror stirred up in their name.
In my mind, the cries of outrage should be loudest coming from the flock.
MRM,
Do you agree that what Kareem is saying is that there is a double standard here?
Erik
Anyone who was in the military during W (orst President Ever) regime knows many military members including high ranking generals treated the iraq war as a crusade. Air Force pilots were the worst but weapons came with biblical quotes as serial #.
Grung: I was in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and that gung ho Crusade mindset was in full force among the lifers. "My way or the highway," except there was no "highway" except restriction or extra duty. If you had any kind of liberal ideas, were against the Vietnam War, if they even suspected you might be smoking pot (even though half the Navy was stoned) -- you were The Enemy.
it's not "How Dare He Compare them"
It's that he even felt the need to bring it up
