Racing Extinction: December 2nd on Discovery Channel
Everyone please watch or record this incredible work. Racing Extinction will be shown this Wednesday, December 2nd, 9 p.m. on the Discovery Channel.
The Oceanic Preservation Society is the group who created this film. From their website:

Thanks for the information. I would love to see this. I'm going to have to find the DVR set, as I am one of "those" cable-cutters. We are now strictly "streamer pig-outters", with an occasional foray to local stations via rabbit ears.

Amazing! The Discovery Channel a channel I used to faithfully watch decades ago for insightful shows of science and information is now screening a new show that isn't a reality show for once?
Maybe History Channel can be next!

Who has good reason to be sarcastic
Erik: I guess things have come full circle. Maybe the viewing public has finally had enough of Sarah Palin and Honey Boo Boo and is ready again for some old fashioned science. (Or maybe I'm getting Discovery mixed up with another channel, having never watched Sarah Boo Boo or any of those other "reality" shows.)
I loved the Hatfields and McCoys miniseries on the History Channel a few years ago. But every time I was setting up the VCR to tape it -- yes, we still had one of those ancient contraptions back then -- there was a reality show about pawn shops. Pawn Wars I think it was called. It was sort of interesting in small doses, but it was basically the same scenario over and over:
Frantic teary-eyed customer: "My great uncle left me this gold-plated heirloom, which he inherited from his great great grandfather. He said it's worth at least $50,000."
Pawn shop owner: [after crunching numbers for half a minute] "OK, I'll give you ten dollars for it."
What the...? My great uncle left us that VERY heirloom. We only got $5.

I also loved the mini-series they did on the History Channel about what happened after the battle of the Alamo.
Jim: I must have missed that one. There are definitely some good things on TV; we (including myself) just have to know about them.
