Big Business: “We’re Paying Our Prostitutes MILLIONS of Dollars, and They’re NOT performing!!!”

Corporate conglomerates and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent megabazillions of dollars to “elect” their Republican prostitutes to the House of Representatives.  And now they’re suffering from buyer’s remorse.

For one thing, they’ve suddenly noticed a huge gap between corporate interests and the Tea Party.  What about that famous Republican lockstep march, where the entire party does everything in unison?

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is strongly in favor of a transportation bill which is crucial for the construction industry.  Teabaggers keep derailing the bill.

And the U.S. Export-Import Bank, which has been financing exports since the 1930s, is in jeopardy.  The bank might shut down completely by the end of May.  (See Teabaggers, previous paragraph.)

A vice president of an airplane manufacturing firm said:

“There’s not a bank in the United States that’s going to loan money to that customer of mine in Argentina to buy my airplane.  There is not a free-market system that operates like that. It does not exist. We need the Ex-Im Bank, period.”

The National Association of Manufacturers is also adamant about the importance of the U.S. Export-Import Bank.

Teabaggers are also derailing a lot of routine business tax breaks by insisting that these tax breaks have to be paid for by spending cuts elsewhere.

Whatever these teatards think of Corporate America, that’s who bought them their seats in Congress.  Wasn’t there something about “dance with them that brung you,” or whatever it was Molly Ivins used to say.

A spokesman for Club For Growth said:  “Free market is not always the same as pro-business.”

Let the rift begin.  Let it get wider and wider.  It’s time for these lockstep marchers to break ranks and start scattering every which way.

Labor Day: Brought to You by Massey Energy and Verizon Wireless

What’s the most burning issue on your mind right now? If you’re like millions of everyday Americans, you too are just boiling with fury over those environmental extremists and that moonbat “clean energy” legislation that’s threatening America.

If a mining company needs to remove mountaintops in the process of meeting America’s energy needs, then By God those F#$%!&# treehuggers can just get the fuck out of the way. Tens of thousands of Americans feel so strongly about this — on Labor Day they’re going to pull themselves away from their family gatherings and barbecues, and they’re gonna go out there and demonstrate against those environmental wackos.

This public fury has been generated at the grassroots level, and these protests will be completely spontaneous. Well, almost.

They’re getting a little help from Massey Energy, Verizon Wireless and a rightwing anti-science front group calling itself the Science and Public Policy Institute.

This demonstration is called the Friends of America Rally. The purpose of course is to express the general public’s alarm and anger at the pending Waxman-Markey clean energy legislation. Speakers will include Sean Hannity and Ted Nugent.

I know Ted Nugent is somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan, but the one time I ever heard him speak, he was funny and likeable. It was a Politically Incorrect episode that also included Gloria Allred. I was sure those two would be punching each other out before the end of the episode, but they were both friendly and jovial, even while blurting out exactly what they thought (like everyone did on that show).

Verizon likes to pretend they’re a “green” company, but one of their vice presidents is on the board of directors of the ultra-rightwing National Association of Manufacturers.

If you'd like to tell Verizon to get out of bed with the Far Right douchebags of this country, you can do so here.

Barack Obama: a Threat to Big Business

There are exceptions; not everyone in the business community is threatened by Obama.

Paul Volcker, former Federal Reserve Chairman, endorsed him last month. And Obama has been consulting with Warren Buffett and international financier Robert Wolf. Wolf said “When I sat down with him, I found him to be unbelievably refreshing and smart and thoughtful.”

One Democratic strategist said “He's been pretty clear that business would have a seat at the table, but business wouldn't be able to buy all the chairs." Communist!

No wonder the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has given Obama the lowest rating of the three White House contenders. They gave McCain an 80% favorable rating; Hillary Clinton got 67%; Obama got 55%.

The National Association of Manufacturers (not that they're partisan or anything) gave a zero rating to Clinton and Obama; McCain got 100%.

Here are some of the reasons the Good Ol’ Boy Network doesn’t want Obama:

He sponsored a bill that would give shareholders (i.e. the owners of the company) a nonbinding proxy vote on executive pay.

He also voted for a free trade agreement with Peru which would include protections for Peruvian workers and the local environment. What?!?!?!? God created those Peruvian peasants for American businessmen to exploit!

And that’s not all: Obama might amend NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) to include environmental and workers’ protections.
