Nuclear Option: YES!!!

Again, that's YES.

Go Nuclear!  WTF have they been waiting for?!?

Today in the Senate, there was a rare sighting of certain body parts — spines, balls — that aren't usually associated with Senate Democrats.  Senate Republicans have been governing by filibuster ever since Obama got elected, and it's been getting worse every day.  Democrats kept threatening to eliminate the filibuster — i.e. the Nuclear Option — but it was always just talk; no action.  Until today.

Harry Reid and the other 51 senators who finally voted to eliminate the filibuster — You Go Guys!!!

Now that the GOP's three ring circus has been curtailed just a little, maybe, just maybe, President Barack Obama can start getting his judicial and cabinet nominees voted on and approved, just like other presidents have always done.  Ya think????

Starting today, the U.S. Senate might be just a little less constipated.  It's about fuckin' time!

I hate to admit it, but my favorite part of the Nuclear Option is the mass tantrum-throwing and hissy-fitting from the Right.  Twist in the wind, suckers.

I was shocked when I saw a graphic today comparing the number of appointments blocked by filibusters during the Obama presidency compared to how many occurred during all the other presidencies combined. Good for Harry.

Today's filibuster graphic was, indeed, shocking. Virtually none until Clinton who had to tolerate 9 of them, then Bush with 7, and Obama with 72! Oh yeah, and he's the one who is divisive.

Jim: I was shocked too. I knew it was bad but I didn't know how bad.

Mr. C: Yup, Obama is the divisive one for nominating all these radical leftists who are out of touch with The American People. I heard that on Fox News so it must be true.

We could regret this when the GOP eventually regains control of the Senate... I think it will someday, because these things tend to go in cycles.

But as for now, let's enjoy seeing the President getting his people working, like he had intended them to. And let's work hard to keep the other guys from regaining control of the Senate for a while.

Snave: I think whenever the Republicans take the Senate again, they'll pull every sleazy tactic they can think of, because that's their mentality. If the filibuster was still in effect, they'd eliminate it without batting an eye. Obama and the Democrats need to work fast and furious to fill every judicial and executive vacancy ASAP during these next 14 months, in case the teajobs win next year.
