Obama-Castro Handshake Shakes Up the Inbreds
Earlier today at a memorial for Nelson Mandela, President Obama shook hands with Cuban president Raul Castro. Instantly, the Far Right cranked up their Outrage Machine and started transmitting. Calling all inbreds...
John McCain said “Neville Chamberlain shook hands with Hitler.”
(Whatever happened to Godwin's Law? Or does that only apply when there's a Republican in the White House?)
Somebody at DeadBart wrote:
“For those who believe in human rights and liberty, the sight of our president bounding up some stairs to energetically shake hands with Raul Castro, dictator of Cuba, was more than a little unsettling — regardless of the circumstance.”
Two Florida Republicans, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Senator Marco Rubio, both lashed out at The Handshake. Ros-Lehtinen sputtered:
“It is nauseating. Sometimes a handshake is just a handshake, but when the leader of the free world shakes the bloody hand of a ruthless dictator like Raul Castro, it becomes a propaganda coup for the tyrant.”
They were at a FUNERAL, you dumbfuck.
It's not 1959 any more. Let's move on.

I'd rather shake hands with Castro than either Ros-Lehtinen or Rubio.
That and the fact he was seen taking selfies with the Danish PM amd David Cameron. Do they forget old St Ronnie shaking the hands of the Russian PM or Donald Rumsfeld with Saddam Hussein. Seems to me they need some gingko biloba in their diets, to help with those memory issues they all seem to be having.
What Jess said. That is exactly what I was thinking while reading this (well...I didn't think of the gingko biloba thingy, but still).
What is with the Republican penchant for making events out of non-events? Pathetic...just pathetic.
And...with you, Jerry!
They should have been asking wasn't George W Bush being a Hypocrite at the Funeral with his Party supported the White Supremacist and labeled Mandela a Terrorist?
Erik
Jerry: Me too.
Jess: It's OK if a Republican president shakes hands with Communists and dictators. I'd rather slip a few pounds of Ex-Lax into their diets so they might be a little less full of shit.
jadedj: If they didn't make events out of non-events, they'd have to deal with the real problems that actually exist.
Erik: That's what they should ask, but they won't.
If they can't focus upon Mandela as being the great man that he was and celebrate his life (as all those at the memorial were doing) or even just report upon that happening over there than I guess the next best thing the right wing assholes can do is bitch about a simple handshake. Yeah, they got nothin'!
Life: You're right, they got nothin'.
