America's Alarming New Heroin Epidemic
NOT!!!
It's Reefer Madness all over again. The recent hysteria over a growing heroin epidemic (mostly among teenagers) is being whipped up by politicians and the Prison Industrial Complex. Some people just can't accept the fact that it's 2014 and the War on Some Drugs is finally starting to wind down.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heroin use among teenagers has actually declined in the past two years. There has been a recent increase in overdose deaths, but most of these ODs were from prescription painkillers, not heroin.
The communications director for the Office of National Drug Control Policy said that any public notion of a heroin epidemic is “a function of media reporting.”

Oh yes, our local police are telling us how bad that heroin use is becoming because as they say the drug is so cheap and easy to get. Uh huh.
Thank goodness for pain killers
Life: Police are always alarmed about heroin because either (A) the price is low and everyone can afford it, or (B) the price is high and those crazed addicts will have to rob and kill in order to support their habit.
Anonymous: Can't live with them, can't live without 'em.
Prescription stuff will kill you quicker than heroin because people mix them all the time to get a better high. You commie pinko lib, making me read an article from that Arab website. Why do you hate Amruka
Tom? Prisons must be feeling the money loss with the new drug sentencing coming, allowing low level stoners to be released into the wild again.
Jess: I guess the Prison Industrial Complex would rather go through gradual incremental withdrawal instead of cold turkey. For every state and local government that eases up on pot laws, the PIC will try to drum up hysteria somewhere else so they can keep their prisons full.
