Scott Walker's Union-Busting is driving Employers OUT of Wisconsin
Hoffman Construction Company of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, will be relocating to Minnesota. Hoffman Construction specializes in mining and road-building. And why is the company moving? Because of the “right to work” (euphemism alert!) legislation that Scott Walker has just signed; and because of Wisconsin's (and other red states') refusal to maintain their roads and highways. According to the Duluth News Tribune:
“Hoffman said Monday night that the reason is twofold: he believes the right-to-work law will ultimately cost his company money, and he sees Minnesota’s proposal to increase transportation funding as offering greater business opportunities.”
All right!!! Let's hope Hoffman Construction Company is starting a trend.
The score so far: tax-and-spend Blue States 1, “Job Creators” 0.
Labels: Hoffman Construction Company, Wisconsin right to work

As a footnote, Minnesota is spending like hell to catch up on their Hwy repair and upgrade since Pawlenty trashed those funds in order to finance a multi-billion dollar stadium for the Minnesota Twins with Public money. Now that he's gone, the rational people realized you can't have a depleted road system in a state with harsh weather like Minnesota where a neglected major bridge had already collapsed.

Erik: Good riddance to Pawlenty. Somebody once described Minnesota as having two seasons -- snow and roadwork. That's the last state that could afford to let its roads deteriorate.
I hadn't thought about how weather can affect infrastructure. Good points about the upper Midwest!
I think things have been allowed to slide to the point where every state has major problems now... I believe there is no state that can ignore things like full-scale roads and bridges for too much longer.
And yes... it would be a great way to put people to work... Thanks for stalling it, GOP.
Snave: We can only hope the GOP's constant stalling on the infrastructure will bite them in 2016. Everybody has loved ones who drive on highways and bridges; this shouldn't be a partisan issue.
