So let me get this straight, people are complaining that Civil Rights Laws are preventing people from serving whom their religion says is offensive, they wanted a law to be protected from being sued if they chose to follow their religious doctrine, the lawmakers GIVE them the law and then when the heat came on, turnaround and say that law really doesn’t do what they promised it would do in the first place. So who’s being screwed here, those who want to discriminate or those (in this case the LGBT community) who are being discriminated against?
Uh-huh!
Dave Ross of CBS news makes the comment that Gays and Lesbians aren’t even mentioned in the law, and with that says people may be missing the bigger picture here: The Religious & Conservative Right has been trying to make a comeback since the 1960’s Civil Rights Law by taking various cases to court trying to assert their religious “freedom” (they don’t care how it’s done, as long as it’s done). From Bob Jones U who wanted to legally segregate to a lady at the California Supreme Court who wanted to have the religious freedom not to rent to couples who cohabitate (In other words living in sin). The Court has covered it again and again and it’s well written into the laws, if you want to discriminate based on religion get out of the business, you can take public money and be picky.
“Hey we really love you, but our bible says you’ll burn in hell...sorry and have a nice day!”
I predict this is the opening shot of the big battle; then they want to go after equity for women, interracial couples, and (the big prize) a return to Jim Crow.

so let's get this "straight".
More that half the People in the country rallied against the government takeover of health care and the media took the side of the government.
Now less than half the country are rallying against a freedom of religion bill and "now" the media takes the side of the people.
Go figure

Erik: I think the tide of public opinion has turned against most of the Bible-humping agenda. It's a cyclical thing; they'll come roaring back with a vengeance in a few decades or so. But for now I think they're waning. Homophobia and the rest of the snakehandling agenda made a huge surge in the late '70s, but it's been fading in the past few years. Drug hysteria and homophobia are the two biggest examples of "Christian" non-issues that have been fading from the public consciousness.

Anonymous: There isn't some sort of giant lockstep monolith called "the media." "The media" includes Fox News, the Daily Caller, NewsBusters, Townhall.com, Newsmax and jillions of talk radio windbags.
