Earn up to $650 a Week, Just for Demonstrating Against Wall Street

If you hate America and everything she stands for, George Soros has a big fat paycheck for YOU.

And if you actually believe the above sentence — or the title of this post — I can get you a fantastic deal on some oceanfront property in Nebraska.

Supposedly, a liberal group called the Working Families Party has a Craigslist ad offering $350 to $650 a week for demonstrators who will “fight to hold Wall Street accountable…immediate hires…must be outgoing, articulate, dedicated, determined, and energetic communicators…”

Anybody seen Andrew Breitbart and his skanky girlfriend James O’Keefe lately?  This “exposé” has their fingerprints all over it.

I have no idea whether or not somebody is contributing money to Occupy Wall Street.  In any case, these demonstrators are reflecting the rage and frustration of tens of millions of Americans.  Three years ago, taxpayers “contributed” a trillion dollars to bail out Wall Street.  So far the bailed-out banks have used this taxpayer money to purchase more congressmen and judges, fund more Astroturf organizations and pay their senior executives record bonuses.

Three years of unarticulated fury have finally crystallized.  Occupy Wall Street isn’t going away.  It’s spreading to more cities every day.  Whether or not somebody is contributing money to Occupy Wall Street and the 99 Percent Movement — the fact remains, these organizations are reflecting the anger and fury of most Americans.

As far as being suspicious of where someone’s money is coming from — how about those huge “demonstrations” two years ago against health care reform?  Tens of thousands of hardworking everyday Americans suddenly flew into a white-hot rage at the thought of HMOs’ profits being jeopardized.

Riiight.

Republicans: “Backward, March!”

I stole that line from a column by Paul Krugman. His column ends with:

“We’ve always known that the modern G.O.P. wants to take America back to the way it was before the New Deal; but now it’s clear that the party wants to build a bridge to the 19th century, and maybe even to the antebellum era. Backward, march!”

He points out that Republicans no longer refer to themselves as “the party of Lincoln.” Nope, that ship sailed a long time ago. The party whose governors keep threatening to secede, naming itself after the president who PREVENTED the southern states from seceding — LOL. That one flunked the smell test a long time ago.

The GOP’s “Backward, March!” order was loud and clear at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) gathering. If nothing else, they set a new Guinness World Record for “number of inbreds per square inch.”

There’s nothing more pathetic — it’s also sort of funny in that sick sort of way — than a bunch of Far Right extremists all trying to out-wingtard each other. “I want to bring America back to the 1800s and ban ALL abortion.” “I want to take us back to the 1700s and put all rape victims in jail. They were asking for it!”

Ann Coulter, Andrew Breitbart, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum, all at the same gathering — no wonder there was an emergency pollution alert. Somebody should have called in a waste removal truck.

“President Obama, Get a Spine”

The editor of The Nation, Katrina vanden Heuvel, said this. She said Obama needs to stand firm against these constant rightwing Wag The Dog fake news attacks (i.e. Breitbart and the rest of those shitwads), or risk “feeding the zealots.”

These relentless attacks against Obama are making him look like a substitute teacher who’s just standing there waving his arms helplessly while the whole class is throwing spitballs and paper airplanes and climbing all over the desks.

vanden Heuvel said:

“This White House needs to institute procedures, as President Obama said, and get a spine because it is feeding the zealots of our system by not standing tall and confronting the forces of hate and fear in a country that has a lot of economic pain.”

She described the Shirley Sherrod controversy (Breitbart’s latest prank) as:

“A testing moment for America ... Are we going to be an America that learns from Shirley Sherrod's tale of reconciliation, overcoming prejudice? ... Are we going to be a media system which is vetting and upholding standards, or are we going to be bullied as a country by a right wing media which peddles fears and slanders to, really, destroy President Obama's presidency?”

She also said: “It's about the mainstream media — with a few exceptions in this case — accepting Andrew Breitbart, a journalist who's known to have no credibility.”

And speaking of the Rightwing Hate Machine: here’s another grass roots organization made up of everyday concerned American citizens — American Crossroads.

Karl Rove is one of the cofounders of this group. Almost every dollar raised by American Crossroads has come from four billionaires. Ah, the Voice of the People.
