Iraqi Wives as Hostages
Man, there sure are some brutal dictatorships out there. You wouldn’t believe some of the tactics government agents and soldiers will use to go after their enemies. I'm glad we're not like that.
There’s been a story in the news about women being kidnapped because their husbands were suspected of being insurgents. This is supposed to smoke out the husband and get him to surrender. What a sleazy lowlife tactic. I’m sure glad nothing like that would ever happen in this country. “It Can’t Happen Here,” as we like to say.
So, which pestilent tinpot dictatorship was it? Let’s see…probably Saudi Arabia or Burma or Sudan or… Oh My God! Say it isn’t so! Uh, this is sort of embarrassing, but…ahem…it was us.
Talk about getting your own house in order before complaining about somebody else’s. Or projecting your own faults onto everyone else. Etc.
OK, so we’re enabling democracy to begin flowering all over the Middle East. But we’re using the same tactics as the dictators we’re supposed to be replacing. We’re showing how much better we are than Saddam Hussein — by imitating Saddam Hussein.
How many new al Qaeda members are we creating when we use tactics like this?
New terrorists are created by our wackoid neocon “adventures” in Third World countries. We get alarmed at the increase in terrorism, so we use even harsher and sleazier tactics to fight them; this in turn creates even more terrorists…
And the circle goes ‘round and ‘round…

I'm sure Saddam is very happy now with the tremendous compliment Bush has paid him. Yes, imitation is surely the sincerest form of flattery.
Icoman: That's a good point. With all of Hussein's tactics that we're imitating, Bush must really admire and envy him.
democrats are soft on security. we're at war. you're undermining our troops. you're with this administration or you're with the terrorists. 9/11.
pick one (or more) and you've just had a discussion with a republican.
that was fun, wasn't it?
Spaceneedl: Yup, that's their arsenal right there. Plus, "why do you hate America" and "you lost, get over it."
the goal is perpetual warfare to feed the industrial-military complex and make Bush's corporate cronies big $$$.
To that end, the NeoCons are doing a heckofva job achieving their goals.
PoliShifter: Oh yeah, they're doing a heckuva job. Money is no object (as long as it's not theirs) and their "family values" and "culture of life" slogans don't enter the picture either.
Unborn fetuses and terminally ill vegetative patients are sacred, but once you're born you're just fodder for the military-industrial complex.
Hey, it's great to see you're still at it, Tom - callin' 'em as ya see 'em as usual! Blog ON, Sir....
Thanks GTL. And I'm glad you're back.
America 2006: No rules, just Right.
J. Marquis: Yup, that sounds like a good Bush/Cheney slogan.
