Stand Up To Telecom Lobby, Get Swiftboated

It had to happen. When Boozo the Clown doesn’t get his way, tantrums will follow. He wants retroactive immunity for telecom executives and he wants it now. He said NOW!! He's gonna thrust out his lower lip, stamp his foot and hold his breath until Congress bends over for him. Or until a group of rightwing millionaires steps in to purchase the democratic process (I thought they already did).

A group of his fellow wingtards calling themselves Defense of Democracies has sprung to the rescue. They’ve raised $2 million (so far) for the defeat of fifteen Democrats who had this wacky idea about telecom VIPs being subject to the same laws as the rest of us.

Here is a YouTube video of one of their ads. It’s hilarious. If it was a skit on Saturday Night Live or the Daily Show, it would have you in stitches. But it becomes less funny when you realize: there are millions of cerebrally-challenged knuckledraggers out there who actually believe this shit.

Here is some more information about this illustrious group, including their membership. If you're at all familiar with the Project For A New American Century (PNAC), the personnel from Defense of Democracies will be “déjà vu all over again.”

Pay no attention to the same fifteen wingnuts behind every curtain.

What a joke. How funny it is to screw america without even having to hide the fact you're doing it.
It's not bad enough they screw us, but they let us watch and then most people like it so much they vote for more. I can't figure out what's wrong with these people, really. Is this really happening?
A reporter asked Cheney what he thought about two thirds of the public not going along with the war. His answer was SO.
WTF! He said so!!!

Bunny~N~Early: Yeah, I read that same thing about Cheney. It's even more insulting that they don't even make any effort to hide what they're doing, or put up some sort of front, or something. They're pretty much saying "what are you gonna do about it?"

I saw this ad once and damn near fell over. Geez!

Members of PNAC are surfacing all over the place lately and Its got me kind of worried. They are brazenly bulldozing ahead with their plans for global domination. It is time to blog the sicko followers of Leo Strauss down again.

Richard Perle has even been given a voice in the NYT - on the anniversary of the war he was instrumental in starting!!!

The same laws as the rest of us.
Equality. Now that is a novel concept. Someone should really found a nation on that.

KWW: If that ad actually influences anybody, our population is more gullible and uneducated than I thought. Yep, those PNAC people are everywhere. Lift up a rock and you'll see the same 15 or 20 neocons wriggling around underneath.

ZacharyR: Hmmm, founding a nation with those principles? Nah :)

Being this is an election year, you can count on the fear factor being employed to help the neocon agenda, so what better way to scare the television watchers than to throw the Islamic boogeymen who hate us for our freedom around some more. people who are scared don't think straight and are more likely to vote for McCain. And McCain is really McCheney when it comes to, well, everything.

Good one.

Oh, these guys kill me.

Snave: Yup, you've got them all. The Winners' Circle. They had such fun bringing us the Iraqi war (not that any of them took part in it themselves) and now they're back for an encore. How can we miss them if they won't go away?

Lew: Fear, that's the only thing those people have. They're sort of the opposite of FDR; the only thing they have to fear is a populace who isn't afraid.

Mike: Yeah, "Defense of Democracies," that's a hell of a euphemism.

But Tom, the really...Really...REALLY need immunity. They're protecting our nation from the evildoers, after all!

[Tip 'o the iceberg time I think. Bush wouldn't be pushing so hard if there was whole world of law-breaking, yet to be discovered, beyond what we've seen so far.]

Kvatch: Oh, it's definitely the tip of the iceberg. Telecom immunity and Cheney's secret energy meetings in early 2001 -- these 2 issues (among others) have "Tip of the Iceberg" written all over them. It's like Bush and Cheney are personally yelling out "Move along! Nothing to see here!" And the more they protest, the more we realize that there really IS something to see; something we need to know.

WABI SABI HERE-Danny Westneat wrote in the Seattle times on Sun. a story on living with survellance. It seems the feds have been monitoring Interstate 5 for nuclear dirty bombs. They do it with radiation detectors. They pulled over a car that was travelling 70 miles per hour.... to find a cat that had undergone a radiological treatment 3 dats earlier.
That's some pretty sensitive detection, leading to what else is being watched for our own good?

WABI SABI: I still have the Sunday paper; I guess I haven't gotten to that column yet. That sounds pretty chilling, but not at all surprising.
