Potential Goldmine for Global Investors
PSSSST — Wanna invest in a broken down third world country? Great potential. Get in on the ground floor Now.
Believe it or not, this destitute country once dominated the world. They still have the world’s largest army; but it’s been stretched so thin over the last six years, it’s almost at the breaking point. And their numbers are shrinking: morale is so low, they can barely find anybody who still wants to enlist.
This country’s infrastructure has completely collapsed. Imploded. Their education system, once the envy of the world, has deteriorated into a sick joke. Because of their gutted, ruined education system, there are tens of millions of supposedly “educated” people who have the critical thinking skills of a 4-year-old. If you’re an unscrupulous politician or businessman, this is the greatest gift imaginable — millions of gullible people who’ll believe everything you tell them.
A lot of these people have very archaic religious beliefs, which they cling to like a pitbull. Learn about these beliefs, and communicate with these people in their own religious terms — and they’ll be eating out of your hand. Two very important buzzwords to remember are “Abortion!” and “the Homosexual Agenda!”
Why are so many of these people willing to work two or three jobs just to survive? Why do they allow their own wages to diminish while prices are skyrocketing all around them? Why do they allow their hard-earned tax dollars to be handed over to the same robber barons who created their economic misery? And why do they keep voting for the same politicians who keep reinforcing this feudal system they’re slaving under?
All of these questions can be answered by referring to those two buzzwords mentioned above. Use them frequently when talking to these people, and they’ll be putty in your hands.
So, what do you think? Interested? A bankrupt country with lots of natural resources and millions of industrious hardworking people who will take ANYTHING you can dish out — what’s not to like?
This is your golden opportunity. Act Now.

The problem with said country is most the people there have become lazy and complacent. They all want to get rich quick, and want everything handed to them, by the government, by their birthright, or by the court systems if need be. When not trying to find a new way to screw their neighbors, they're spending their meager earnings at the casino, or on lottery tickets, looking for that one big pay out that will put them out of debt and on Easy Street.
The infrastructure is in such disrepair, it makes no sense to try and fix it, as the inhabitants will only grind it back to rubble with their oversized overpriced and over fuel consumption standard vehicles.
Even more powerful than the words "Abortion" and "homosexual agenda" are the words "celebrity", as watching the media created sensations provides a big enough distraction that most of them never noticed that their previous owners were robbing them blind. Show them some star-obsessed octo-mom, or diva abusing pop star, and they don't seem to notice that their futures are being stolen by greasy bankers in designer suits, partying like everyday was 1999.
The ground is littered with plastic and styrofoam; the soil and water contaminated with poisonous chemical compounds. The The skyline is scarred with billboards, skyscrapers, utility poles and cell phone towers; the very sky itself pours acid rain from the toxic waste spewed forth on a daily basis.
But even more important is if you wait another six months, they will be so desperate you will probably be able to get it at half price.
You make a really good food-for-thought point with this, Tom.
A whole lot of Americans should take time out from being irate at the politicians, at the regulators who weren't worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell, at the company that tucked a pink slip into their folder the day they were hired — to save time when the time for dumping came — and at the people now trying to clean up the mess.
People need to take time out to ask themselves where they were and what they were thinking, when they let themselves be spooked into re-electing a clearly unsuitable, perverse jerk of a president by the 9-11 attack. Or maybe they let themselves be suckered by social wedge issue propaganda.
People need to reflect on the wisdom of signing up for an adjustable rate mortgage for a home whose payments would be 40 percent or more of their income at the start, knowing they were in a job where employees always get laid off at the first sign of a recession.
Let's double that need to think for folks who were carrying a month-to-month balance owed on their credit card(s), but couldn't resist buying that 4-by-8-foot LCD TV with 24-surround-sound speakers, or some such extravagance, even as news of a rising number of layoffs began to spread.
Plenty needs fixing in this democratic republic of ours. Fittingly, much of it begins with we the people getting our own personal and family acts together.
It makes sense; there are enough of us to provide around 1 servant to each Chinese family.
Sounds risky and more than I can afford...where do I sign? I'll worry about the consequences later ;-)
Lew: Excellent points. I can't think of anything to add to that.
SW: In other words, "we have met the enemy and he is us." As contemptible as our robber barons are (and their symbiotic relationship with our government), this situation has only been made possible because of millions of gullible short-sighted people. Being manipulated by phony wedge issues, buying luxury items they don't need with money they don't have -- like you said, "much of it begins with we the people getting our own personal and family acts together."
JR: I hadn't thought of that. Now there's a career path we can all strive for.
DB: That's the spirit. The global economy will not bounce back until we can revive that good old "Buy Now Pay Later" mindset. Yessiree, I'm gonna sign that dotted line right now without even reading the fine print :)
Hey the country may act like a crack whore but it's our crack whore damn it.
If you live up in this part of the country you need to work three jobs just to pay the rent unless you live out in the boonies.
To think that an economic expansion could last forever was just foolish, but we've gone from bubble to burst how many time in the last twenty years?
The last of the remaining oversite rules that kept an eye out for our current problems were eliminated. Not to say that some people weren't suckers or greedy fools, but the last administration made this the wild west of finance and investing. Who were Bush's best buds? Does Ken Lay come to mind? Or from Georgie's own mouth "the haves and the have mores" and they all seemed to be less than ethical. The "Contract against America" worked like a charm. Rob an entire country and make it so complex that the whole system would fall.
Like that lemmon you bought from the shady car dealer we're stuck fixing it. The lemmon law is gone and the dealer is out of business. No returns. No refunds. All sales final.
"the country may act like a crack whore but it's our crack whore damn it." LOL.
The "wild west" is exactly right; a free-for-all for Big Business and a complete gutting of all the regulations that have protected us since the 1930s.
God, I'm so freaking depressed now...
I like the country as a crack-whore metaphor - very fitting :)
Bee: If the crack whore analogy catches on, rightwing slogans and bumperstickers will have to adapt. "My crack whore right or wrong."
They also love guns along with their archaic religious beliefs because they think the Russians are still coming to get them.
The sad thing about all of this is that we have yet to hit rock bottom. we still have a ways to fall.
The latest conservative argument is that we have 92% employment and many of them are still in homes and paying their bills. This was said by Ben Stein and is very nice and all but it does not acknowledge that the 92% have to work 3 jobs as you mentioned or have taken a nasty hit in their standard of living. There is also no taking into account how fast we went from 6% to 8% unemployment.
So really Tom the country is just swell and those being hit hard by the meltdown are just deadbeats looking for a nanny state with "socialist" ideals. Sad thing is many in what was called "real America" during the elections couldn't, for the life of them, tell you what socialism actually is and that aspects of it have been here in this country all along.
But that requires education and we all know the education system is for liberals.
I love how conservatives rationalize things.
Ricardo: That's exactly what the wingnuts are saying. "92% of Americans ARE working," "most bridges HAVEN'T collapsed." Whoopdedoo. And if you have a flat tire, it's only flat on the bottom.
That's true that most conservatives couldn't define "socialism" if their lives depended on it. And most of them don't seem to have any problem with socialized fire protection and socialized mail delivery.
Tom, that is a great post. You ARE talking about the old Soviet Union here, right?
Snave: Either the old USSR or the current USA -- one of those burned-out has-been countries. They're hard to tell apart sometimes.
