Arizona Governor: “How Many Meskins Does It Take To…”
On Friday, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer said most illegal immigrants in Arizona are transporting drugs over the border.
She forgot to mention that they all have quick tempers, and each and every one of them is carrying a switch-blade. And lazy! Hell, lazy doesn’t even begin to describe them. All they do is lie around all day with that stupid sombrero pulled down over their faces. And if you ask any of them to get up and do some work, he’ll just peek out from under his sombrero and say “Mañana” and go back to sleep.
T.J. Bonner, president of the union that represents border patrol agents, refuted her, saying most illegal immigrants coming over the border are not carrying drugs. “The majority of people continue to come across in search of work, not to smuggle drugs.”
A history professor at the University of Arizona, Oscar Martinez, said:
“Unless Gov. Brewer can provide hard data to substantiate her claim that most undocumented people crossing into Arizona are 'drug mules,' she must retract such an outrageous statement. If she has no data and is just mouthing off for political reasons, as I believe she is doing, then she must apologize to the people of Arizona for lying to them so blatantly.”
The state attorney general, Terry Goddard, said Jan Brewer “does not understand the difference between illegal immigration and the organized criminals who are members of the violent drug cartels who pose a very a real danger.”
Jan Brewer is up for re-election this November. But don’t worry, she’ll be fine. If she loses, she has another job offer.

How did she get elected in the first place. I don't even know who she's running against. I'm told her numbers are real high because people just have to have someone to hate and blame for their problems. Of course that would be Mexicans. Last I checked her job approval was over 60 percent. I think the people of Arizona need some Mass input of knowledge. It's really to bad people like her raise to power.
Fear is a powerful tool, and a useful tactic to push a personal agenda.
I have read some horrific stories by people living in border towns, and having drug dealers practically taking over their properties. I believe this is the exception, however, these folks are living in constant fear of these ruthless drug dealers. Why can't we just secure the borders, and hold our government and the mexican government accountable?
As is your policy, I will refrain from four-letterness on someone else's blog.
Witch!
While this is ridiculous, I heard one where terrorists are having anchor babies here in America, moving back the the Middle East and raising them as militants, where they can come back as citizens and attack us from within. Or run for president.
Rep. Sue Myrick has another one where some of these she claims Hezbollah is operating along the Mexican borders and gang members are now getting Islamic tattoos, which is odd since Islam forbids tattoos as "mutilation".
In my younger days, I walked in the desert near the Mexican Border. The climate and terrain is so inhospitable that just walking is hard work, not the kind of thing I's expect from the mañana type. Brewer can't have it both ways.
I don't know why anyone is surprised. This is the state that produced "Nuke em" Barry Goldwater. It has a history of hate toward Indians and Mexicans. It isn't going to change...it is inbred and has attracted large numbers of conservative retirees who are of the same persuasion. No doubt this twit is popular.
Tim - she got into power when Obama picked Janet Napolitano to be the Director of Homeland Security. Apparently, there is no Lt. Gov in that state, so next up is Secretary of State, Nazi lady Jan Brewer.
Lew - Sue Myrick claims that the tattoos are in Farsi - which I doubt she knows the difference between that and English.
The native Mexicans that I've met are some of the hardest working people around. They do that so they can feed their families here and send money back home to their extended families. Jan is once again talking out of her ass, which has to be better looking than her face.
And I hope her next job is toliet cleaner, because that's all she's really qualified for.
If we took the profits out of drugs,(legalize them) many of the "problems" would be solved.
I've asked myself about 500 times lately "how did so & so get elected?"
It's because the human race is being flushed down the moron toilet. Well, at least here in America. If a majority of Americans, even a scant majority, are dumb enough to vote for this crazy bitch, then that's what we get. Crazy.
Tim: I guess that's the kind of politician the people in Arizona like. One of her opponents in November is a self-made millionaire who's financing his own campaign. I don't know anything about him but he can't be any worse.
Kate: Securing the border and legalizing drugs -- two sensible ideas. Which is why the Powers That Be aren't interested in either of them.
jadedj: Aw, you can go ahead and swear. And you're right about Arizona, a state where John McCain might get voted out because he's too liberal.
Lew: Terrorists having anchor babies so they can come back here as citizens to kill us; Hezbollah gang members with Islamic tattoos -- yup, the Far Right keeps getting loonier all the time.
TomCat: That's true about the desert. I've driven through it; I could get exhausted just thinking about walking through it. And too many venomous creatures to be leery of.
Lisa G: Toilet cleaner for the American Nazi Party, the perfect job for Jan Brewer.
Bee: I guess that's the question everybody asks, "how did ______________ get elected???" If voters were less gullible, we'd have better politicians.
Blame the immigrant! It's a 100 year old tactic.
Erik
Erik: If only that tactic had started in 1492.
Re. Gov. Brewer, 1) Stupid is as stupid does, 2) You can't fix stupid, 3) Fearful people do stupid things and 4) (insert "stupid" reference here).
If she wants to shoot off her mouth and say stupid things like Joe Barton did, and if more of these far-right types keep doing the same in the press... then sure, they will get a good number of seats back in Congress in November, but not as many as they think they are going to.
I believe politics today is often times more about style than substance, and if the simple reporting of a number of these gaffes tars the GOP's influential members (or the GOP in general) as a bunch of stupids, then fine! I have enough faith in Americans to believe that a majority of us will recognize stupid when we see it, regardless of whether it's a Democrat or Republican being stupid.
Some of these idiots seem to think that because their party has momentum right now they are above civility and can do or say anything they please. I think this works with whatever party happens to have the momentum.
I also believe that the conservative wing of America ought to be policing itself a bit better instead of spending resources promoting such people as Jan Brewer, or for that matter, Sharron Angle, Michelle Bachmann and other far-right libertarian/conservatives who are saying some pretty crazy things. We may see a few of these loons get elected in November, but like with all things, a saturation point will be reached as voters realize the errors of their ways, and then such antics may no longer be in vogue.
So if the right doesn't want to police itself and it prefers to instead let their darling rogue elements run amok in the press, that's fine with me. They are only hastening the time when the pendulum will begin to swing bck to the left.
Snave: "Stupid is as stupid does" sure describes Jan Brewer. I saw today in the paper that John McCain is publicly disagreeing with her comment that most illegal immigrants are drug transporters.
I think all of this rightwing demagoguery is mobilizing the extremists, the "base." I just hope that doesn't translate into a lot of votes in November. If this kind of mindless race-baiting, gay-bashing and generally marginalizing the most vulnerable people is what the public wants and votes for, this country is in worse shape than I thought.
I agree Tom. And I have to disagree with this statement..."I have enough faith in Americans to believe that a majority of us will recognize stupid when we see it".
The opposite of this is precisely how G.W.B. came to be the POTUS. Dumb rules in 21st Century America politics...not to mention the country as a whole.
jadedj: Sometimes the voters come through, like the 2006 and 2008 elections, and some wacky state ballot measures that get defeated.
But then we have Michele Bachmann, Joe Barton, Eric Cantor and a host of other loonies to attest to American Stupid.
