Exclusive Preview of Arizona’s Future Textbooks

Forget Texas. Texas looks downright progressive next to Arizona’s new “Zee Papersss Pleassse!” law, their multi-million dollar fence that’ll soon surround the whole state, their banning of ethnic studies...

Here are some exclusive photos from Arizona’s soon-to-be-unveiled history textbooks:

Chief Sitting Bull

Martin Luther King

Caesar Chavez

Rosa Parks

In Prescott, AZ, a school principal ordered a public mural to be “edited” so that all swarthy icky furrin-looking’ children would be white, as God intended.

The mural was titled “Go on Green” and it was designed to promote environmentally-friendly transportation. It showed four children, and the most prominent one was Hispanic in appearance. Unacceptable!

This little problem has been corrected. The mural has been sanitized and sterilized, and now each of the four children looks like this.

Oh come on Tom. The principal was just using his expertise on shading, as an art critic so that it looked more real. Here is the address of the school, where you can send him a nice postcard. I sent him a picture card of myself, with a nice little note attached to it, to let him know we brown people are just as good looking, if not better looking, than some of the white people. You KNOW you want to.

Same as it ever was with the racist stuff. It seems to me that this is becoming more mainstream because the media is just not doing the job of getting this information out to people, I guess the conflict is getting the ratings for them.

Thank goodness for that! I would hate to visit Arizona and be made to feel uncomfortable with any representation of diverse ethnic groups that do not have the same values as I do. Now if they could only do that with teevee shows, the world would be a safer place.

ok, so you penned an amusing piece. However, it's "stuff" like this that gets folks all riled up about nothing. These are the kinds of half truths and exaggerations that keep racism on the front burner.

How could they be racist? Hell they even talk once in a while to the coloreds.
Those pictures, see what happens with in breeding...

Jess: Instead of a letter or postcard, I'll probably write an e-mail to the school, and keep sending it over and over. If enough people do that it might clog up their e-mail system or even crash their server. I found the school's website but right now their server is down. Hmmm...

Lew: Maybe Cheech and Chong were ahead of their time. That skit from their first album -- "now back to our feature film, the Jackson Five Story starring the Osmond Brothers."

Carlos: Thanks for the link. I'm glad there's some local outcry about it. The store seems to be getting a lot more coverage. I first saw it on AlterNet but Yahoo.com has also covered it.

Anonymous: Racism is rampant and a strong motivator of people's actions. Because of that it needs to be kept on the front burner.

Randal: You'll have to wait 'til 2012 when President Gingrich gives you back your country.

Lisa G: Sorry about your coffee :)

TomCat: Looking like a sphincter -- good description.

Tim: Everything was fine when them coloreds and meskins knew their place.

The city councilman that started this whole thing has been fired from his radio job. Found this on Wonkette a few minutes ago.

Principal said he made a mistake by asking for the mural to be lightened. Superintendent of schools too.

“It is being lightened because of the controversy,” Wall said, adding that “they want it to look like the children are coming into light.”

I prefer my racists to have the gumption to come out and say they're racists, not make up sophomoric excuses like the above. I sense the presence of Top Ramen where a spine should be.

So, now we're supposed to take their word for it the principal and superintendent aren't racists. OK, what does that leave them being? I'll tell you what: weak-willed twits who lack the courage and integrity to stand up to racists and bullies. Instead of modeling courage and integrity for the children they're supposed to be educating, they modeled fecklessness and cowardice. The two of them ought to be as fired as the radio bully/city councilman.

Jess: Thanks for the links. Glad that asshole was fired from his radio talk show. Hope he gets voted out of his city council seat too.

SW: "Top Ramen where a spine should be" -- perfect description. If that principal and superintendent are swayed that easily by the local rednecks, they don't belong in any position that requires leadership or responsibility.

I hear Arizona is now worried about their public image. Evidently, no one wants to go on vacation there.

Well, neither do I.

I'm with SW - I prefer my racists to just go ahead and wear the white f'ing sheet in the street, already, so there's NO CONFUSION as to WHO is WHO.
