Corporate Front Group Attacks Humane Society
I was one of eight people in the country who didn’t watch the Oscars last night. But apparently there was a slick 30-second TV commercial during the ceremony, smearing and slandering the Humane Society.
It costs roughly $1.7 million to run a thirty-second ad during the Oscars, so this obviously wasn’t the work of some ragtag grass roots organization. It turns out the ad was paid for by the Center for Consumer Freedom.
As we’ve all seen by now, the folksier the name, the deeper the corporate funding. The Center for Consumer Freedom is run by Rick Berman, a PR flack/prostitute for the food industry.
According to the largest food magnates — or maggots, as they’d pronounce it in the south — the Humane Society is a threat to consumer choice, i.e. corporate profits. The Humane Society’s crimes against the Food Syndicate include: protecting dolphins against over-aggressive fishing methods, defending laws that prohibit the slaughter of horses, and pushing for laws that mandate more humane treatment of farm animals.
In other words, time to call in the services of Rick “Will Bend Over For Food” Berman. Previous PR campaigns waged by this spooge-bucket include:
Debunking the “myth” that too much sugar is bad for you;
Trying to brainwash the public into believing that: a) trans-fats are good for enhancing immunity and fighting cancer; and b) soft drinks will increase athletic performance.
Needless to say, he’s also a major player in the “Come on, Fellow Inbreds, you don’t believe in that ‘global warming’ nonsense, do you?” campaign.

Oh yeah that's right all "wing nuts" who don't believe in the religion of Global Warming also don't believe animals should be treated humanely. Isn't that a little broad brush painting?
I don't see the words "wing nuts" anywhere in this post. You must be quoting something else.
And if "global warming" is a religion, it is at least one supported by science. I'll go with science over superstition any day.
To not continue to investigate the causes of something, to not consider it a puzzle we should rise to, is to be lazy and defeatist. For those who are sufficiently brainwashed by religion, FOX "News", Newsmax, etc. there is no further need for examining anything... it's all explained for them, right there in easy-to-understand terms. No effort required!
Tom, you are correct. For these people, "a threat to consumer choice" is just another way of saying "protection for corporate profits", worded in a way that stokes anger or fear. Sad stuff!

Berman is also the millionaire sleaze who posed as a blue collar worker in his anti-union Superbowl ad.
I'd picture him sitting in a swivel chair, gloating over his schemes for world domination while stroking a white cat... except that he's demonstrated that he's no friend to any animal.
If you'd like more info on this cartoon villain, it's at your fingertips via HumaneWatch Info, Consumer Deception, and the HSUS.
Now now.... Lisa is a good little bot, trained by her MAN what to say, but she's only got a wheel of about a dozen retorts to any argument anyone may offer, so cut her a little slack. Maybe the hubs can teach her some new retorts after tomorrow's "Hannity" broadcast.
Guess I was on an island because until the Oscars Humane Society attack ad aired. I wasn't aware of the despicable lobbyist, Richard Berman. Thanks to "The Center for Media and Democracy" I know how dangerous this guy is to the welfare of both humans and animals. Even his own son Dave confirms this. My Humanen Society check is in the mail. Great blog. Thanks
This proves it: conservative corporate apologists are all insane.
Lisa: I'm glad we at least agree on this one issue.
Jerry: You're right, that word doesn't appear anywhere in the post.
Snave: These industry lobbyists keep using the same smokescreens about "freedom" and "consumer choice" (as if they care about consumers) when they actually mean protecting their own profits and monopolies.
AmyK: Thanks for the link. I'll definitely join StopHumaneWatch.
JohnDopp: Thanks for the links and the information. That asshole definitely needs to be watched closely.
Nancy Jenkins: I hadn't heard of Rick Berman until I saw the article yesterday at Think Progress. He's somebody we all need to watch closely.
Jack: They're all insane, and some are worse than others.
". . . the Humane Society is a threat to consumer choice, i.e. corporate profits."
Yes, every time some poor chicken or cow is provided enough cage space to be able to move, it's a crime against consumers. An extra inch or two on either side will make eggs and meat so much more expensive.
Slimewads with lots of money to throw around, like Berman, really test my commitment to the First Amendment. It's good that you, sites like HumaneWatch and radio hosts like Thom Hartmann are shedding light on this greedy cockroach. Cockroaches don't like having light shined on them and their activities.
SW: Cockroaches are a perfect analogy for people like Rick Berman. We need to keep shining light on them.
