Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan

Zing!  This oughtta get a rise out of conservatives.  “Hanoi Jane” — yup, the rightwads are still calling her that forty years later — will be playing America’s favorite holier-than-thou “Just Say No” ice queen.

The movie is The Butler, directed by Lee Daniels (“Precious”).  The movie is a historical drama based on the life of Eugene Allen — White House butler from 1952 to 1986.  Forest Whitaker will star as Eugene Allen.

Oprah Winfrey, Liam Neeson and Hugh Jackman are also in the movie.  Jane Fonda’s role will be relatively minor since Eugene Allen only had to deal with Nancy Reagan during the last five years of his 34-year career.

Hey I forgive her for being stupid and disrespectful to our POWS's but I am sure the reason she is playing Nancy Reagan is meant to be insulting.
Just going out on a limb here...

Since you've never said a damned thing that makes any sense, the limb seems to me to be the place you never leave.

And I really wish that you would consider the slashes that your wet dreams made to VA budgets, or the outsourcing your buddies did that caused our wounded soldiers to be housed in mold-infested Roach Motels to be a form of "disrespect" as vile as any ever perpetrated on them, but you and thinking don't exist in the same ZIP code.

This should be interesting, for many years the only blacks in the white house was the servants and some of the stories they have told have never made the big screen.

The first President known for coming down and chatting with them in their own environment was Truman, he was among their favorite.

Hugh Jackman? Liam Neesom? Any Americans to play our Presidents?

Jane Fonda playing Nancy Reagan? Hmmm... That might be kind of like Michael Savage or Glenn Beck playing Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

The movie doesn't sound like one I would be much interested in seeing anyway, which means it probably has a very good chance of winning an Oscar.

Jane Fonda is a very good actress. Nancy Reagan was a decent enough first lady, IMO. Put them together and you might be surprised at how well they would hit it off.

I don't think producers choose actors and actresses based on their political beliefs of 40 years ago. They're looking for someone who can act and who fits the part. I think Fonda fits this part very well.

The greater irony would be if Fonda were to play Pat Nixon, I suppose. Nixon lied to voters about ending the war to get elected in 1968, then expanded and carried on with the war. Then again, I have no idea what if anything Pat Nixon thought about all that.

It would seem that even the mention of the two nut cases Fonda and Reagan bring out a whole other breed of nut cases. In any case, as far as the flick is concerned, anything Forest Whitaker does is worth watching.

Obama lied to voters about ending the war to get elected in 2008 then expanded Afghanistan and carried on with the war and left Gitmo open.

At the end I am really interested to see how Nancy Reagan treats this black butler.

You know what they always said about the Reagan's, they can fit all of their black friends in the trunk of a Cadillac and still have room for the Republican Elephant
