“Mitt Romney has changed positions more often than a pornographic movie queen”

Now now, former senator Arlen Specter didn’t mean to insult any hardworking actresses by comparing them to Mitt Romney.

He said:

“The Republican Party has moved so far to the right, you can’t recognize Mitt Romney.  What Mitt Romney will appear in October?  Mitt Romney has changed positions more often than a pornographic movie queen.”

And:

“If you think women have no place in the workforce, if you’re against contraception, if you think John Kennedy’s speech in Houston separating church and state was wrong, you are too far out of the mainstream to be president.”

President of Iran maybe.  Oh that’s right, Romney wants to bomb them.

And if — Heaven Forbid! — Mitt Romney is actually able to flipflop his way into the White House, what will he say to the Russians the first time he meets with them?

“Hey, you didn’t think I was serious, when I was saying you guys are ‘without question our number one geopolitical foe,’ did you?  Aw come on, I was willing to say ANYTHING to get elected.  See, watch this, I’m shaking the Etch-A-Sketch — all gone.  Give me five!”

As much as I dislike Romney, I'm praying he gets the nomination. If any of those other wack jobs wins it will be the biggest national embarrassment in history. And considering Reagan, that says a hell of a lot.

And just how would Arlen know about pornographic movie queens? Oh that's right he's been to so many republican conventions.

Sadly, I have to agree with Mr. C...

Even as weak as Romney is, I think he is more presidential by far than Santorum, Gingrich or Paul. If it was Romney in charge, I think America would just go *mostly* down the toilet rather than *completely* (like we would if any of the others became president).

Those are good quotes from Specter. No surprise he was driven out, seeing as how he was a moderate at the time, and the GOP's "big tent" does not include moderates anymore (which is fine, as their "our way or the highway" attitude will hurt their chances in elections).

The right wing Machine ate up Specter in the 90's when, as a good Republican and Conservative he decided to try a run for the presidency.

Remember Specter's Jewish and Grew up in the same boyhood town in Kansas as Bob Dole. They were classmates.

He got so much anti-Semitic hate mail from his own party that I new it would be a matter of time before he would moderate to the middle and/or even switch parties.

A Survivor of the Revolution.

Lisa, as usual, your stupid links are as underwhelming as your stupid comments are. Why don't you spare yourself further humiliation, and cook us all a big old steak like a good little biddy? Surely you can at least do THAT.

Mr. C: Sad but true. Romney is the only grownup (using the term loosely) among the GOP contenders.

Demeur: True, at any large Republican gathering there must be a lot of pornographic activity going on.

Snave: You're right, it would be better for the country to just go "mostly" down the toilet instead of "completely."

Erik: I didn't know that about Specter and Dole. And they're both perfect examples of moderate RINO Republicans who got kicked out of the Big Tent.

Randal: My sentiments exactly.

JR: I wouldn't be too sure.
