Mitt Romney's Revenge

Mitt Romney went down in flames in the 2012 election, but his private equity / corporate raiding M.O. will be playing a larger role than ever during the 2014 and 2016 elections.

Romney's failed campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, has created America Rising a centralized opposition research firm.  Unlike Political Action Committees and those ubiquitous fake charity groups that aren't required to disclose their donors, America Rising is privately owned; profit-driven.

The mission of America Rising will be to dig up dirt on any and all Democratic candidates, nationwide, 24/7/365.   Republicans are hoping America Rising will be the party's most sophisticated, modern, and centralized opposition research effort ever. It is key to the GOP's hopes of resurrecting itself after the soul-crushing presidential defeat of 2012.”  [from the linked article]

We'll see.  Interesting times ahead.

Why does the Right even need a research outfit? They have been getting along just fine making shit up. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Just like their excellent data base was supposed to help President Romney last time. Oh wait, yeah we still have President Obama, you see how well that worked for them last time and changing the name won't change the outcome. GoOpers, keep on keeping on though. It will make certain Hillary gets in to that slot next time.

They are probably staffed by a group of creative fiction writers.

We can always sick Larry Flynt on them again. Remember during the Clinton era he offered all sorts of money to anyone that could prove that a Conservative committed Adultery? Brought a few down as I remember.

That's okay, we just served everyone in the "Haas v Romney" Racketeering case. http://www.justice.gov/archive/olp/colmconnollyresume.htm

And, I'm trying (Real Hard) to do what the court wants; to make justice come to these guys.

MRM: Good point. Why bother with research when all they have to do is make shit up and millions of Fox viewers will swallow it hook line and sinker.

Jess: I hope that's all it is, just a new costume for their same old dinosaur.

Jerry: Yup, creative fiction. And they all tell each other what they know the other person wants to hear. No matter how poorly their plan is working, they'll all high five each other and say "Yeah, it's working! We're gonna win!"

Erik: Excellent idea. We may need Larry Flynt again if we want to fight fire with fire.

Anonymous: I hadn't heard of this case. Good luck. Romney and his fellow organized criminals need to be brought down.

If the other guys are doing this, I think we should be doing it as well.

They do a pretty good job of shooting themselves in their collective foot... and although it seems a pretty safe bet they'll continue to do so, I don't believe we should take anything for granted.

If they dig up dirt and spread it around, we need to be able to fight fire with fire... otherwise we allow them to frame the debate and keep us on the defensive.

Snave: I agree, we can dig up as much dirt on them (if not more) as they can on us. Time to fight fire with fire; no more bringing a pocket knife to a gun fight.

Flynt's Hustler Magazine offered $1 million for a true Romney story worthy of publishing.

We went through extensive climbs and providing proofs up the ladder to the head editor and such;

but - they declined to tell the tale - so Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi took some of our information for his Sept. 2012 "Greed and Debt" cover story.

I knew it! Romney really isn't a moderate! Ha ha! The tea party will get the republican nomination next time. Just no way out of it now. Teabaggers (conservatives who historically never really liked the republican label) have always been better at local elections, with the history of personal attacks and such, and just general republican nastiness - lynching, voting rights issues, coathanger salesmen, gaybashers, polluters, etc. Just depends on who you are I guess. So interesting how all this is playing out, local vs national, with the republicans being on the wrong side of every issue. Hate to break it to anyone, but the entire republican nomination process is a dog and pony show, the least disgusting, or the one with the least disgusting dirt out there on them, wins. Ha ha, just kidding, the most insulated one wins.
