Matt Taibbi's Rhetorical Question about the Tea Party

Here's the entire quote from the Meme GOP post:

“So how does a group of billionaire businessmen and corporations get a bunch of broke Middle American white people to lobby for lower taxes for the rich and deregulation of Wall Street? That turns out to be easy. Beneath the surface, the Tea Party is little more than a weird and disorderly mob, a federation of distinct and often competing strains of conservatism that have been unable to coalesce around a leader of their own choosing. Its rallies include not only hardcore libertarians left over from the original Ron Paul "Tea Parties," but gun-rights advocates, fundamentalist Christians, pseudo-militia types like the Oath Keepers (a group of law- enforcement and military professionals who have vowed to disobey "unconstitutional" orders) and mainstream Republicans who have simply lost faith in their party. It's a mistake to cast the Tea Party as anything like a unified, cohesive movement — which makes them easy prey for the very people they should be aiming their pitchforks at. A loose definition of the Tea Party might be millions of pissed-off white people sent chasing after Mexicans on Medicaid by the handful of banks and investment firms who advertise on Fox and CNBC.”

And check out the Rolling Stone article from which these quotes were taken:   The Truth About the Tea Party by Matt Taibbi.

You won't be surprised, but you'll be more furious and disgusted than ever.

When the Southern Strategy was conceived and implemented by the Republican Party, they believed they were getting the boundless energy of the Right-Wing Insane Reactionaires, No Strings Attached but along the way the crazy conservatives began to view the GOP as their Party and began to see the establishment as traiotrs to the Cause of Conservatism.

The Tea Party is still duped enough to vote for and aid in the implementation of the Plutocratic Agenda because they've been conditioned to believe the Rich are demi-gods but, they are now no longer willing to their agenda items languish on the back-burners.

Grung: Teabaggers and other Far Right fringe groups are the Frankenstein that the GOP created. And now the mainstream GOP leaders are dumbfounded -- the key word is dumb -- that their useful idiots have turned on them and are demanding a place at the table.

I keep saying the Teabaggers are old fashioned Southern Democrats turned Republicans. Nothing they say is really new, Hell Reagan and Goldwater said a lot of this back in the 60's.

The Rich took a hint from European Royalty, started donating money to Churches and got Beatified by the Clergy.

Erik: I have a grudging respect for Tea Partiers and Libertarians IF they're consistent about wanting less government -- across the board; but not just "leave those poor corporations alone" but "crack down on those people that I don't like."

Unfortunately, it's usually the latter; their "anti-government" "Freedom!" slogans are just a code for ignoring environmental, workers' safety and civil rights laws. In other words, the same old 1950s -- or 1850s for that matter -- racism and bigotry, with different soundbites.
