What's The Difference Between a VA Hospital and a Middle School?

Seriously, this isn't a riddle. John McCain wants to know.

During McCain’s speech last Thursday, part of the backdrop was a giant image of Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, CA. WTF???

This nationwide TV image came as a shock to the school’s staff. Principal Donna Tobin said: “Permission to use the front of our school for the Republican National Convention was not given by our school nor is the use of our school’s picture an endorsement of any political party or view.”

Going waaay out on a limb here — I'm gonna guess that McCain’s handlers wanted to use Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC as a photo op during McCain’s speech, but they somehow got it mixed up with Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood.

DUUUHHH!!!

And these people want to be trusted with the Presidency of the United States?????

Somebody should come up with a David Letterman style top ten ways to tell whether you're in a middle school or a veterans’ hospital.

Or maybe McCain could visit Walter Reed Middle School and take a refresher course. He could relearn some of his old geography lessons, like: where is the Iraq-Pakistan border? (Pssssssttt! There ISN'T one).

The McCain campaign has not been available for comment.

So, how about that!

The GOP wants us to elect a guy who doesn't know the world's physical or cultural geography to be in charge of the country and to therefore influence the world. They want us to elect a guy who doesn't know how to use a computer. To elect a guy who doesn't know how many houses he owns, and who once referred to his wife as both a "cunt" and a "trollop". They want this guy with a bad temper and obviously poor judgment to be so very close to the red button.

I think where "middle school" come could into play here is that age 12-14 is about McCain's maturity level, maybe where his personal growth ended. (I would certainly say that about Rude-y Juveniliani and Sarah Barracuda, after hearing them speak). But maybe not... McCain is probably much brighter and better than that. At least we can hope.

Having eight years of a spolied, immature adult running the country has been bad enough. Let's not elect more of them.

Snave: It keeps getting worse. Reagan caught all kinds of shit for his occasional slipups, but he sounds like a genius compared to Dumbya and McCain. Getting a famous veterans' hospital mixed up with a middle school 3,000 miles away that has the same name -- I couldn't imagine Reagan or even Dumbya being that dumb.

But maybe this is an omen that McCain needs to relearn (or learn for the first time) some basic knowledge that most 13-year-olds already have. Countries and borders, how to operate one of those newfangled computers, etc.

Mike: That's a riot. I didn't see those posters. I didn't watch McCain's speech; I was too pissed off from listening to Giuliani and Palin the night before. I'm glad their spelling matches their political intelligence.

The Maverick and his merry band of dumbasses are amazing. I can't believe people are so frothed up about him when he hasn't talked about anything. I can't wait for the debates.

Carlos: The debates should be interesting. Too bad there'll only be one vice presidential debate. Joe Biden will cut through Sarah Palin's bitchy soundbites like a knife through butter. And McCain's addled brain will get trounced by Obama.

It hope the debates will make a difference, and won't get trumped by TV ads and Swiftboat attacks.

Tom, I have this fear the McCain and Palin just might be elected by those pissed off Clinton supporters, the evangelical misguided decisions on family values their leaders preach and those Republicans that have for years told us how we should live our life.

Let's Talk: That's a real fear, that those 2 douchebags could get elected. I'm just hoping that McCain's ineptitude and Palin's shrill meanness will come across to the public and they'll get defeated.

John McCain's only been in one of them.

Ron: Good one. With all of McCain's ignorance and misinformation, he could use a little time in school. It's never too late.

Ron Nasty did throw out a good one! I am in awe. Did they really screw up that bad? Did they use the school because it was cleaner, and more modernized of a back drop?
WTF??? Over the last 30 years a real movement of lack of education has occurred in OUR country. It was during the 80's that all the High School trade programs were "downsized". Yet, now we watch "Army Strong" commercials that say they give the very thing that was taken. An education, where there is none given anymore...Pathetic. Great blog Tom.

AHB: Yup, they really did that. If they're that careless with their photo ops, how careless will they be when there's a real crisis? Photo ops and images are their top priority, so this is not a good sign.

Now they're trying to cover it up by saying they actually intended to use the school as a backdrop, to show that education will be a priority under a McSame administration. Nice try.

Apparently several musicians also complained about the rethuglican party using their songs at their convention without seeking their permission. The Rethuglican party is full of thieves. I'm not surprised by this move and it's funny that nobody could confirm whether it was the middle school or hospital. Idiocracy at its best.

Jo: I heard about that too. I think Heart (or their manager or somebody) told the McCain-Palin campaign to stop using their song Barracuda. If you illegally download a song off the internet you get fined tens of thousands of dollars. But if a political campaign illegally uses a well-known song over and over in front of millions of people, they get their wrists slapped.
