What If Bush Had Done That?

That’s the question that this article is asking. “What if Bush had done that?”

I haven’t clicked on the story yet, but that’s an excellent question. What if Bush had done, well, anything.

Obama’s workload would be about a trillion percent easier if the Worst Dumbest Shittiest President EVER had done something — anything! — besides invading other countries and cutting taxes for his corporate donors.

As you know, Obama has spent the last few months fighting the fight of his life for health care reform. What if Bush had done that? Well, let’s see — eight years times 45,000 (the number of Americans who die each year from lack of health care) — about 360,000 Americans would be alive right now instead of being murder victims; victims of our mercenary health insurance industry.

Another Herculean challenge facing President Obama is: trying to rein in that gargantuan out-of-control Frankenstein known as the finance industry. He’s trying to re-establish some of the banking regulations we used to have up until twenty-odd years ago. What if Bush had done that? Well, for starters, the Great Financial Meltdown of 2008 — the worst since 1929 — would have been averted. Millions of unemployed Americans are no doubt wishing Bush had done that. They’d still have jobs, homes and bank accounts.

Climate change and the energy crisis are two more problems that will eat this country alive if something isn’t done. Obama is pushing for clean energy legislation which will start mitigating both of those crises. What if Bush had done that? Imagine that. Gasoline at $5 a gallon, global warming threatening to become our worst nightmare, thousands of knuckle-dragging inbred simplefucks blubbering about “Drill Baby Drill!” — all of this would’ve been something out of a bad science fiction movie.

Also, President Obama scored higher than 100 on an IQ test. What if Bush had done that?

Chimpy did what he was sent to do-gather up all of the wealth of the country for transfer to his rich peers. This country has been on a "socialist" path since January of 2001, and only the knuckle-draggers can't figure it out.

They, of course, just loves them a white "Christian" man, so don't expect them to figure it out any time soon.

Mind you, he would also faced a deluge of baseless criticisms by mean spirited corporate attack dogs that chose to oppose him because he committed the sin of being rich, white and from a foreign country called Texas.

Holte: The article itself was just the usual rightwing talking points, that Obama is getting a free ride from the liberal media.

Lisa: Uh oh, better hurry. As soon as that wicked socialized medicine has engulfed this once-free nation, it'll take you at least ten months to get a doctor's appointment; longer if it isn't an emergency. And as you walk toward the doctor's office, you'll have to step over the corpses of all those patients who died in the waiting room.

JR: Yup, Chimpy was under strict orders from his puppetmasters, and he carried out those orders diligently.

Randal: We're just about to invade Venezuela and Honduras, but first we have to bail out Halliburton and Blackwater.

Thomas: If Bush hadn't done what his masters ordered him to do, those corporate attack dogs would have taught him a lesson.

OMG Politico, the other arm of the GzeroP. There are just so many things could be put against anything Obama has done thus far that we would be here for the next 8 yrs thinking, did this really happen, with commander cuckoo bananas, gotta go research to make sure I am not making things up, we would be here for days.

Other things Bush could have done, be there when the remains return from overseas to see up close and personal the ravages of war. I really hope he did that last night to see the toll war takes and he may be changing tactics in Afghanistan. I hope so.

Lisa, no one will be making you wait to get seen. That is all a bogus talking point to scare people of the boogeyman. If you want to live being scared go to it, I often wonder why is it the choice is only available to people when it is one group telling another you can't do this or you can't do that. when it comes to others making the choice, it is their way or the highway. I'll have to think about that and come back with something later. You see, I too have a doc appt but *gasp* I had to wait a whole 2 weeks for mine WITH insurance. Go figure.

Yes, Bush should definitely have shown more concern for soldiers killed or injured in Iraq/Afghanistan. But they were just fodder, chattel; a Blueblood like Bush couldn't possibly relate to them or have any sort of empathy. He couldn't even be bothered to fake it.

In the UK it's only a 6 month wait for a root canal.
I know that will never happen here because Pelosi said we will have low cost great medical now. Thank goodness for her and her merry men.

Lisa, Now as to your crap about waiting on this that or the other, I could give you many anectdotal stories of my own from people that live overseas to dispute what you are saying. It has been made very clear to EVERYONE except bobbleheads on the right that nothing will change with seniors care. Like I said in my other posting to you, if you want to be the scared little person and live accordingly go to it. I know from visiting nursing homes to talk to many seniors, they would prefer to have people buying into Medicare. Can you imagine the horror if we were all able to do that? I don't want to think what would happen if young people like me who are relatively in good health and pay into the system, not taking much from it.

Let's do a little math shall we? Average senior pays 100 per month for Medicare, maybe tack and extra 50 for meds and stuff. So say based on income and family status: family with 2 kids and a 30k salary, they pay I don't know, 2k per yr for med care, that is double what a senior pays currently. We just have to figure out how many families would that be. Younger people like my husband and I DINKS, double income no kids people, our salary without being very specific, combined is 6 figures, so we pay more to help that other person that needs help, through our taxes. I have no problems adding a few percent, if it meant someone else in need could get what they need to not die. It could work I tells ya, only if people would come to their senses and realize there is NOTHING that you get for free, and we all have to pitch in for the "general welfare" of the nation.

I read that a while back, on this "quaint" document we have. It will come to me, I'm sure, after I think about it where I read that. I would rather make you go look it up though, that way you will get a little educated on where it came from and how it applies to this health care discussion.

Lisa: "had to wait a year for a cataract operation" -- that's nothing. I had a coworker whose cousin had a friend whose roommate knew somebody who had to wait six years for an emergency tracheotomy. Damn those socialist bureaucrats, and now they're about to take over our once-free country and ruin the greatest health care system in the world. I wish that commie fascist would go back to Kenya.

Jess: Interesting info. I'm glad to know that this is what a lot of seniors are thinking.

Tom, I had been asked by hubby's gran and pop pops to go to a couple homes to talk to some of the seniors they know. Most of them were listening to all the hollering about how it was going to affect their own coverage. I made some bullet points of what it would entail and gave a few group talks after visiting one place. The same woman was the admin head at a couple of groups and she said after our talks lots of the seniors got on her about get me more info. I should probably go make another couple visits to see how they are feeling about that. I tell you what, I will go next week sometime and if you allow me, I can stick an off topic reply on one of your next postings after I do that.

It will show some people here maybe, that even the seniors are worried and the reason some of them were, was because of kids and grandkids. That is how you reach people. Use their own family as the example. Ask them do they know anyone that has no insurance and go from there.

I tried to use grocery stores and big boxes as talking points. You know, you go in for whatever and the stores these days have their own brands of certain items. Doesn't mean the private brands don't go off the shelves into your cart, but it shows you have a choice available to you of the less expensive I don't know, toilet paper or whatever.

Jess: That sounds like a great thing you're doing. Yes, I'd love to hear your followup report if you go back to find out what they're saying.

I like your analogy of generic brands vs. the "better" brands. So far I've never heard of any upscale brands being driven out of business by the Safeway or Wal-Mart brands; but that seems to be what the HMOs are afraid of.

Lisa I did forget to add this part when you said you knew 2 Canadians and the HC problems they faced. Did you know that if a person in Canada has to have life saving surgery and they do come to the US who pays for it? Hint, it isn't the person or the US government. The Canadians pay for it, they just get transferred across the border and it gets paid for. This is information some may miss, since it generally is not talked about in certain media outlets. You know who they are.

More of us from this country go the tourism medical care route. In fact, certain health insurance companies have started talking this up, because it saves them even more money. You can pay the premium here and they send you to clinics, hospitals in India, Mexico or wherever and it saves almost half of what it would cost here. Ca-ching once again for insurance companies and the profit they get. It would probably be a good thing for you to get acquainted with the Google, it would give you lots and lots of info. You obviously have the internet, it's a matter of wanting to get a little more information than what you would get listening to Rush, Beck and the rest of the asylum inmates.

You think I pulled those people out of my ass?
The lady with the cataracts lives behind me and the heart surgery guy's wife works with my friend and the root canal guy is a father-in-law of an acquaintance.
Also my OBGYN said he is more concerned about being a citizen under Socialized medicine than a doctor because he said patients are not treated as well by doctors in those systems. They talk down to them. I guess though what the hell should he know he's only been practicing for 30 years.
I know Canadians can buy private insurance to come across the border but here's the age old question"When we have Universal Health care where will Canadians go for treatment?"
I guess you will have to learn for yourselves quislings.
You know why we go to other countries for certain procedures? Because it's cheaper. You know why it's cheaper? Because they don't have the Bar Association in bed with the politicians(democrats) . They can't sue the pants off the doctors there like they do here which also brings down the cost of Mal-Practice insurance which the democrats have no intention of doing. You know being in bed with "Big Law" and all.

I don't know if the writer is pro-Republican or felt he needed a controversial angle for his "story." I do know Politico is very uneven and not a source to be taken at face value. Lisa, there is no need for Canadians to buy private to come across the border. The government PAYS for it. I don't know where you get your info but damn girl, I am in my friggin 20s and have more information that people WAY WAY older than me by looking into it should have. If only there were more people willing to not let the biased news media here give them all the bullshit we get on a daily basis, people would be more informed. Well D'uh it's cheaper we are being screwed in more ways than one by the insurance companies who make obscene profit on whether you or I stay sick or healthy. Makes sense to me they would want to outsource health care too like everything else. It does not take a degree in physics, for me to to know this is not rocket science here does it? It has nothing to do with lawyers or anything of the sort that is an untrue statement. There are tight regulations in all of these countries that do not allow their citizens or subjects in the case of the Brits to bot have health care.

As for your claim about the 2000 pages or so, if crappy amendments had not been offered in triplicate to be voted down, this would not have happened would it. I am really curious and I have gone over to healthcare.gop.gov to see the republican plan. Guess what, there is no plan other than tort reform allow us to cross state lines to get insurance. Do you know the havoc just the crossing of state lines would cause? No, ok I'll tell you. California has many regulations in place where we don't get gouged at the whims of big insurance. I get my insurance from a company in CA. So, if I go across to say, I don't know, North Dakota where there is one insurance company for the whole state or Maine where there are two, I could get royally f*cked by having to pay their premiums and oh by the way they have nothing by way of regulations in those states. Who does that hurt? I can afford the cost, I am very fortunate in that regard but there are many people who cannot afford it. Those are the people I want my tax money to go to. If you say one thing about I don't want my tax money being used for this that or the other. I will offer you a nice big cup of STFU because I don't want my money funding the MIC or wars or executions. I have no voice in where my money goes or doesn't go. I have to keep working to get progressives in office that will listen to my and many more like my voice.

As far as PO signing the ill, did you ever watch re run episodes of how a bill becomes law on that show School House rock when you were little? I did and for you I'm guessing no, since you have no clue the bill hasn't even gone through the reconciliation process between the house and senate for it to be signed into law. If you would like I can post a link to show you step by step how our legislative body works for you.

Had to do two separate posts, I yakked too long for teh toobs :)

Sorry this is so very long, I hate when people are not honest with points so it makes the conversation bogus. Yes Tom, Canadians have the government that pays their bills when they are sent to the US. Because Mayo is close to the border, lots of cancer patients go there. One reason they are the best at what they do and they function as a "universal" type hospital.

Here is a small blurb from one article I had read about this. I'll try to find the one that went into further details for some of our friends here that obviously don't like to do their homework like spoiled children. You know who you are.

Canadians visiting the U.S. to receive health care

Some residents of Canada travel to the United States because it provides the nearest facility for their needs. Some do so on quality grounds or because of easier access. A study by Barer, et al, indicates that the majority of Canadians who seek health care the U.S. are already there for other reasons, including business travel or vacations. A smaller proportion seek care in the U.S. for reasons of confidentiality, including abortions, mental illness, substance abuse, and other problems that they may not wish to divulge to their local physician, family, or employer.

* Canadians offered free care in the US paid by the Canadian government have SOMETIMES declined it.

I was married to a Canadian and any medical cost she had down here she could get paid for by the Canadian Government. What really impressed me was that there was one single address/number you can call to get any issue resolved unlike down here where you are given the phone mail run-around.

Once in Canada visiting relatives, she came down with something and went to a neighborhood clinic, showed her card, and came back in less then two hours having been seen and given some medication.

Amazed? This was on a Sunday! Anywhere in this country you would have to go to ER and they wont even take you for such a minor problem. Even if is was a major problem you would still have to wait for hours.

Yes Canadians do have private Insurance. It's called Benefits, many Canadian companies offer additional insurance as part of their benefit packages, it's how they compete and get good workers.

Imagine

As for the Cost of Health Care being so high, Lisa ignores my earlier post that says foreign Insurance Companies average a 5% profit while American Companies average a 40& profit.

She also ignored a earlier post I made about the Bush medicare plan which is not budgeted for and paid on credit (straight to the deficient), but also forbids medicare to bargain for drugs and other services like foreign companies can. Both of these add to our higher health care cost.

Her response was to ignore the fact that this was passed Republican Majority (including the so called fiscal Conservatives) by saying "Bush is a RINO!"

Perle, dumb ass that wouldn't be able to find his ass with both hands, a map and a flashlight.. There are just some of the crew that sent men and women to their deaths and caused trillions to be added to our deficit.

Anon, thank you, thank you, for the information to this twit and plonker on the Canadian governments awful socialistic health care information*

Bee, I would like to bury her in more than PDF files, but I am a pacifist so I will bury her with factual information. That sends wingnuts over the edge more and it pleases me :). Thanks for the kind words though. I know I was able to get some people voting for Obama after I kept on them with his platform. Even from my hospital bed, but you knew that already. They were like a captive audience at the nurses station when I was able to get up and walk around.

So imagine this what if. What if, that racist Buchanan, had not been on the ballot in Florida where Shrubs brother was governor and they stopped the recount.

What if we had the rightful president in there. Would we have had the past 8 yrs? That is a HUGE no, we wouldn't have. We would probably have universal health care by now, climate change laws on the books, no service members that came home with a flag draped coffin. It goes on and on and on with the what ifs, so you need to take your head out of your ass, and see what is happening outside of there. That is all for now.
