Christian Terrorists Are Safer Than Muslim Terrorists
There doesn’t seem to be much outcry from conservatives over the release of nine members of Hutaree. (Check out some of these links if you’re not familiar with the group or their plans.) A judge has released them until their trial date. The federal government is appealing that ruling.
If these would-be terrorists were Muslims or had Arabic names, the public would be clamoring to send them to Gitmo. Get them out of the country! Americans are not safe having these monsters inside our border. And torture them while you’re at it.
What’s with the double standard here? From my narrow uninformed perspective, a terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist. But what do I know?
If somebody has enough weapons to single-handedly invade a small country, and has been conspiring to set off a civil war by killing law enforcement officers and their families — I don’t care if this person’s name is John Smith or Abdullah el-Habiballakhbar. I don’t care if he’s a Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, devil worshiper, atheist, or whatever.
And presumably, if one of your loved ones becomes “collateral damage” in a terrorist attack, you’re not gonna be thinking “I bet it was one of those F#$%!# Muslim — oh, it was Jim Bob? Hey, shit happens.”
I think anyone arrested on terrorism charges — whether it’s conspiracy or after-the-fact — should have their Miranda Rights read to them. (I can’t believe conservatives are still hissyfitting over a 45-year-old Supreme Court ruling.) They should be provided with defense lawyers if they can’t afford one. Their trial should take place here in the U. S. of A; not Cuba. Their guilt or innocence should be determined by a jury in a courtroom; not a few officers in a secret military tribunal. And they shouldn’t have confessions “coerced” out of them while in prison. And they should NOT be released to their homes while they wait for trial.
Everything in the above paragraph applies to ANY terrorist suspect, regardless of their name, nationality or religion.

I read about this yesterday and what others were saying is these people were not flight risks. I don't agree with that, but apparently the judge(Clinton appointee btw) felt, under the law they should be released. I hate the double standard for our white Christian terrorists, eg Scott Roeder, Eric Rudolph et al. The reading of Miranda needs to be done so that an alleged (whatever) does not get to get off on a technicality right? Agree with the fair trial and access to an attorney too.
I am not a lawyer, just married to one and have them as aunts. I don't listen to them half the time, since it is all legalese when they get together, droning on so I tune them out.

Those good folks in Oklahoma are just as dead as the 9/11 victims and any Hutaree victim would have been equally so.
These bastards need to be treated like what they are and sent to Leavenworth to await trial and when found guilty, sent back again.
Funny how now some people think the Obama administration should uphold the Constitution, but when Bush was wiping his ass with it, they were strangely silent.

This group should be in jail awaiting trail. From what Tom said the Feds are challenging this decision. Now I doubt their a flight risk, but I have no doubt that their conspiring their next move. Getting their story right.
I hope the feds can move quickly and send them right back to jail.
It is kind of strange how people try and use the constitution for their own purposes. An example of that being the Patriot Act. The huge Government bureaucratic monster that's Homeland Security is for my money bullshit. Crash McCain spewing, to hell with the Constitution. No Miranda rights,stripe a citizen of his citizenship. This is just an example of making the constitution pliable to your liking. I apologize for being long winded..

Jess: Yeah, this double standard is just too much. People went hysterical when Obama first announced that some of the Gitmo prisoners would be transferred to the U.S. for trial. And yet these Hutaree members might have been released to their homes (house arrest) to wait for trial. (I just read that a federal court nixed that idea. Thank God.)
