A Rightwing Troglodyte’s View of 9/11

I wasn’t planning to do a 9/11 post — what it all means, where was I ten years ago today when I first heard the horrifying news, etc. But let’s see what this dire ten-year anniversary means to a few unnamed unlinked knuckle-draggers on the Right:

“For those of you on the left, feel free to Google ‘9/11/2001’ if the date doesn’t ring a bell for you.”

“Then, three years later…the country was one state away (Ohio) from sending to the Oval Office a liberal Masshole with a shameful record of crapping on the American soldiers and palling around with Hanoi Jane. His ‘service’ to this country was a resume-padding means-to-an-end for that schmuck. Yet here we were as a country, pretty much back to the attitude we had before 9/11/2001, hung up on matters that should have paled in comparison to the big matter of ‘Who will keep us safer?’…Then the unthinkable happened: Seven years after that fateful day in 2001, the country elected an unaccomplished leftist ideologue who had never run so much as a lemonade stand, but had plans on bringing the American economy to its knees worse than it already was. Why did Americans do such a foolish thing? Because the brother was adept at reading a teleprompter.”

And this little rightwad had a hissyfit over this column by Paul Krugman — an excellent summary of how the Far Right used the 9/11 attacks as leverage for their longtime agenda.

Let the grunting begin:

“Someone just suggested on Facebook that Paul Krugman should be raped by a camel. I think that's too good for the likes of Krugman. This horrific pussy of a ‘man‘ has taken the one day of the year we should ALL be on the same page…”

I think the point was this event which could have been a unifier turned out to be so exploited, it was turned into a patriotic litmus test "my country right or wrong" became a familiar mantra.

Unless of course Obama is in the White House.

For a while People were starting to ask "why do they hate us" but that quickly got drowned out by an Anti Muslim agenda

Sad day in many respects

So many innocent people, both American and foreign, have been murdered in the name of September 11 that I can no longer find any reason for remembrance. We sure as hell aren't honoring the dead, who are still being danced on by politicians interested in nothing more than keeping and expanding their power.

I don't believe that the reign of Error was smart enough to pull off the "inside job" that some suggest September 11 was, but it still amounts to our Reichstag fire.

There is really nothing to like about "9-11". Why so many people seem to like it so much is beyond me.

"liberal media", hahaha.

Bought and paid for shills for this facist corporate state.

Goebbels* would be proud.

Ultimately one gets the "gov't" one deserves, eh?

I avoided all 9-11 porn yesterday, by listening to Ricky Gervais podcasts. Seems to me these guys are all about exploiting it when it suits them and ignoring it when it doesn't, see first responders medical care fight as an example.

Now who was it that said never let a good crisis go to waste?

got drowned out by an Anti Muslim agenda

Sort of like the Anti-American/Christian agenda in the ME,right Erik.

You know what I would have liked to see, speaking of cashing in? When Obama made his 9/11 speech, video of Rev Wright behind him yelling how "America's Chickens Have Come Home To Roost"

If you knew anything about Middle East History you might be moreunderstanding. How the British with American Support took over that region after WW1 and treated them like slaves. When Oil was discovered they took the bulk of it and left them little.

Iran is mad because they deposed their monarch and installed a democratically elected leader only to have the CIA overthrow him and but the Shaw back in.

Iraq had been a nightmare because the West made it's borders putting two ethnic groups that hate each other.

Borders that left them so little Coastline they invaded Saudi Arabia.

The Whole Region is still mad when the West carved up pieces of their lands and put in Israel.

No you probably wouldn't understand.

Instead of Rev. Wright I figure a good conservative like you would see the Video of Jerry Falwell saying 9/11 is the result of America excepting Homosexuals and the Westboro Baptist Church Choir can sing background.

Erik: It's too bad an event which could have unified everyone, turned into a slogan for every warmonger, xenophobe and racist in the country.

JD: You must be listening that liberal media again :)

JR: I don't have any specific theory about 9/11, but the official story is too full of holes. And it sucks that the 9/11 dead are "still being danced on by politicians" (well put).

Snave: Without 9/11, the media would have to find some real news to report on for those two days. On 9/12 the only news is the jillions of 9/11 ceremonies from the previous day.

Anonymous: No doubt Goebbels is smiling from his grave.

Jess: 9/11 porn, LOL. It definitely appeals to a lot of people's prurient interests.

Randal: Then, you're with the Turrists.

Erik: Good rundown of ME and Iranian history. But conservatives don't care about history or cause and effect. It's much easier to get their "base" all riled up with a few short hot-button soundbites.

Eric and thanks to us we made them rich because they had no clue they even had oil nevertheless how to extract it.

And I can't believe Krugman actually get paid to spread his "wisdom"

Jonah Goldberg has the best description of Krugman, calling him a "gargoyle on the parapets of establishment liberalism."
