Bill Donohue to Rape Victims: “Bend Over Again. And LIKE it.”

According to Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, the world’s most pressing issue is the jillions of sexual abuse cases by Catholic priests.  No, not the abuse itself — that’s no biggie.

The REAL problem is those sniveling victims who were assaulted by priests, and the huge settlements the Catholic Church has had to pay.

Donohue told the New York Times that the church “has been too quick to write a check” to these victims, and that the church should fight all of these cases “one by one.”

He also said Catholic bishops should “toughen up and go out and buy some good lawyers to get tough” in the fight against their victims.

Bill Donohue’s current mission is to go after the victims’ advocacy group Survivor Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP).  Donohue’s lawyers — YOUR tax dollars at work — are demanding “more than two decades of e-mails that could include correspondence with victims, lawyers, whistle-blowers, witnesses, the police, prosecutors and journalists.”

These subpoenas are calculated to sabotage SNAP’s advocacy work, and possibly bankrupt the organization.  Donohue describes SNAP as “a menace to the Catholic church.”

A reporter was hoping to get an interview with Bill Donohue, but several young boys had just been escorted into Donohue’s office a few minutes earlier, and Donohue was temporarily, uhh, unavailable for comment.

This vicious attack on SNAP/victims tells us only one thing.

To all victims who have been sexually abused as a child, your voices are strong and powerful, and you are being heard!
The church officials can't shut us up. They can't shove all the victims back into their control of silence.
The can of worms has been opened, and that is only because very brave victims of clergy sex abuse are speaking up, coming forward, contacting the police, exposing the truth, and trying their hardest to not allow another child to be given the life sentence of harm which they were dealt.

For those who wish to help ...On our website - SNAPnetwork.org - are simple suggestions for helping victims beat back this assault against them by top Catholic officials. Please check it out. Thanks.

"Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests" and all clergy.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world's oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims.
SNAP was founded in 1988 and has more than 12,000 members. Despite the word "priest" in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers and increasingly, victims who were assaulted in a wide range of institutional settings like summer camps, athletic programs, Boy Scouts, etc. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)

I do hope that people don't lose sight of the flat-out fact that Jesusistani "fundamentalists" are every bit as likely to rape children as Catholic Priests are. Statistically, a little moreso, even.

I might just have to write me up a sermon on it.

Donohue spent years showing up on CNN and MSNBC. This 2010 example might be why he doesn't seem to be on the show bookers' A-list any more when Catholic controversies arise.

My impression of Donohue is that he's a hard-line hardhead and loudmouthed bully popped out of the same mold as Limbaugh. So this latest outrage comes as no surprise.

This is a way for homosexuals to be around young boys. Yes they are priests but they are mostly gay.
So is the problem Christianity or homosexuality?

Anonymous: Thank you very much for the link and the information.

JR: I'm sure the Fundamentalists are every bit as prone to this as Catholic priests, if not more so.

SW: Thanks for the link. Donohue sure sounds like a piece of work.

Anonymous: The fact is, they're rapists. Period. It has nothing to do with their religion or whether they're gay or not.
