North Carolina Stripped of its Voter Suppression Shield

Politicians in North Carolina might actually have to go back to winning elections the old fashioned way.  You know, campaigning on the issues, trying to persuade voters that you're more qualified than your opponent, etc.

North Carolina's teatard governor, Pat McCrory, has his panties in a twist because North Carolina's attorney general has refused to appeal the court ruling that overturned North Carolina's Jim Crow On Steroids voter suppression law.

Confirmed: Voter ID Laws Reduce Turnout Among Black Voters; Supreme Court Approves

The Government Accountability Office has confirmed what we already suspected.  Dozens of ALEC/GOP-instigated Voter ID laws have delivered their intended results:  reduced turnout among black, young and elderly voters.  Mission Accomplished.

And these voter suppression laws are being approved and encouraged by the Corporate Arm of the Republican Party (formerly known as the U.S. Supreme Court).  North Carolina's new Keep the Nigras Out of the Voting Booth law had been delayed until after the November election by a federal appeals court.

The Supreme Court justices, recognizing the urgency involved, took time out from their busy schedule to quickly overturn the Appeals Court's decision.  So now it's full speed ahead for North Carolina in their mission to eliminate early voting and voter registration drives (the Voter ID part of North Carolina's Jim Crow law doesn't take effect until 2016).

“Why does the state of North Carolina not want people to vote?”

That's the question asked by Judge James Wynn, who might be deciding whether or not to postpone North Carolina's voter suppression law until after the 2014 election.

A federal judge has already given the green light for North Carolina's voter suppression law (aka Jim Crow 2.0) to go into effect before the election.  But now the case is being heard by a panel of three judges from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  Hopefully they'll rule that North Carolina has to stay in the 21st century (or 20th anyway) until after the 2014 election.

And now back to the question posed by Judge James Wynn, one of the three judges on the panel:  “Why does the state of North Carolina not want people to vote?”

Oh come on now, North Carolina does too want people to vote.  Just, you know, [ahem] certain people; the right people.  [wink]
