How Democrats can Win Back the House

That’s the title of this article by James Carville and Stan Greenberg.  They make the point that the middle class has pretty much fallen off Obama’s radar since his re-election.  My own top priorities are to protect (a) the environment and (b) the middle class from the corporate juggernaut.

These aren’t separate issues.  Whether it’s eliminating clean air/water protections and the Endangered Species Act, or giving more tax breaks and loopholes to the wealthiest one percent — at everyone else’s expense — both of these agendas are being pushed by the same shadowy billionaires and their useful idiots.

If I had to pick the two issues where I’m the least opinionated, it would be guns and immigration.  And this is where President Obama is spending most of his political capital.  And what has he gained?

The authors point out that Republicans have aliened key voters in regards to immigration, guns and the budget.  But they conclude with:

“But if Democrats want to take control of Congress, they must return to an issue that has disappeared since election night:  the ongoing struggles of the middle class.”

Bravo.  What are we waiting for?
