Republicans Finally Have Specific Plan for Deficit Reduction
So there. Republicans do TOO have specific proposals. They’re NOT just a bunch of mindless automatons sitting there saying “No.”
They have a detailed plan which will eliminate a whopping one half of one percent of the budget. Whoa!
Their target is the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Contingency Fund. This bloated inefficient program has created 250,000 jobs in 37 states. It was part of that commie stimulus package. Rep. Tom Price (R—Befuddled) said this program has encouraged too many people to lie around taking handouts.
Several Republican Governors have been in favor of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) emergency fund, including Haley Barbour of Mississippi. He said the program provided:
“Much-needed aid during this recession by enabling businesses to hire new workers, thus enhancing the economic engines of our local communities.”
Oh well, it’s kind of a moot point anyway. You see, this program that Rep. Tom Price is targeting — you know, the one that created 250,000 jobs for laid-off workers — Has Already Expired as of last September.
DUUUHHH!!!
How’s that “takin’back yer country” thingy workin’ out for ya?

There's something about the radical right. Whenever they hear "needy," they think "lazy" and "parasite." They have no concept of people working $8 and $9 an hour jobs, maybe two of them, and not getting enough to eat, or being homeless.
Simplemindedly, right wingers equate poverty with shiftlessness, and having a job, any job, with having enough. Well, enough unless you're talking the $250,000-plus a year crowd. For them, there's no such thing as enough, which is fine with conservatives.
So, it's no surprise they want to kill TANF. The more helpful and efficiently run it is, the more they will want to kill it. It's not just the money. It's that helpful, efficiently run government programs make painfully clear how full of horsepucky they are.
Don't worry.
They'll be campaigning for the next two years touting their success at "ending" that program.
And no one at Fox will ever tell it another way.
Yay!
They win!

Love ya!
Of course the Reich Wingers have a plan. The "Hell, no you won't" plan. Compromise is for democracy; it is very un-republican.
At least the head of that money pit - no, not the Pentagon - the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is on the chopping block. Drones don't come cheap and we need every last one!
SW: The Right's "values" aren't surprising at all. Creating jobs and providing a safety net for laid-off workers = welfare and socialism.
But their callousness combined with being so clueless was just too funny. For an encore they'll probably boycott Trans World Airlines and vow to never buy another Nash Rambler.
Suzan: You're right, they'll take credit for "ending" a program that had already expired. And Fox viewers will be none the wiser.
Dave: Damn right; compromise is for Democrats and Kenyan Muslims, not for Real Americans.
Randal: The Corporation for Public Broadcasting -- taxpayer money being used to promote the liberal/communist agenda?!? An outrage!
Great minds indeed. ;-)
TC: Republican stupidity, the gift that keeps on giving.
