Health Insurance Industry to GOP: “Nevermind”

“Obamacare.” “Government Takeover of our health care!” “Shoved down the throats of The American People!” “Repeal and Replace!”

There’s just one tiny problem with all these hysterical rightwing soundbites: the health insurance industry doesn’t want Obamacare “repealed and replaced.”

Obama will veto every attempt to repeal health care reform. But more importantly, the HMOs will clamp onto Obamacare like a pit bull if the GOP tries to repeal it. The individual mandate is the most unpopular part of Obamacare and the basis for most of the lawsuits against it. It’s also a multi-billion-dollar gold mine for HMOs. Good luck trying to take that away from them.

Congressional Republicans can still keep the teabaggers riled up over “Socialized Medicine!” and “Death Panels!” They’ll probably add a “Repeal Obamacare!” amendment to every bill. But at least now we all know that the GOP’s puppetmasters don’t actually want them to succeed with “Repeal and Replace.”

Don’t worry, Republicans will probably continue with their “Repeal and Replace” fanfare and Astroturf “demonstrators” waving mis-spelled signs. What else are they gonna do?

No they'll want it repealed and replaced with vouchers and savings accounts there by making yet more money for the insurance companies. Savings accounts only benefit the wealthy and the insurance companies. It's a use it or lose it deal. If you don't use the money in the savings account by the end of the year you lose it to the insurance company.

Yes, the insurers really like the fact they're getting another 30 million customers. What they really, really don't like is that they will be obliged to pay out 80 percent of revenues for claims.

That's unfair. Needy CEO's, executives, trustees and investors deserve more for all the extremely valuable things they do. Things like awarding themselves big, fat bonuses and pay raises. Claimants, meanwhile, are a bunch of whiners always trying to treat their insurance company like a big piggy bank. You know, put in a buck, expect to be able to take out a buck later. Hah!

It was as I suspected, much of that Healthcare bill is a potential raid on the Taxpayers. That if tweaked by the incoming Republicans will make the Bush Medicare bill seem like pocket change in comparison.

I can just see it; the "Parental responsibility for sick kids" and the "Too sick to insure" amendments will be popping up like poisonous mushrooms in the GOP House. The Dems will squawk a little bit before they "compromise" by capitulating.

Al,
Why not? We followed the fascists in the last Administration. That turned out well, didn't it?

And you forgot the part about our "Marxist" who's a "racist with a deep seated hatred for white people".

Keep to your fair and balanced storyline for full effect.

Demeur: That sounds like exactly what the HMOs and their Republican prostitutes will push for. But Obama will just keep vetoing.

SW: If only the HMOs could find a way to keep the individual mandate while getting rid of those commie regulations about recission and pre-existing conditions.

Erik: So far Bush's Medicare giveaway is more expensive, but I'm sure the "fiscally conservative" Republicans will fix that in a hurry.

Dave: Yes, those 2 amendments are very important to The American People. Also, don't forget the HMOs' Constitutional Godgiven right to practice recission -- poring over somebody's application with a fine tooth comb after the person had the nerve to get sick, and finding some teensy thing the applicant forgot to mention, and canceling the person's insurance and saddling him with the hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills he's run up. The American People will insist on the HMOs' right to keep doing this; otherwise Jesus will cry.

Al: Them leftists will never learn. They're just a bunch of commie parasites who want something for nothing :)

Dave: I couldn't tell if "Al" was being tongue-in-cheek or not (probably not), but I treated his comment that way just the same.
