Riddle: What’s the Difference Between a Sikh and a Ay-rab?

Aw, sheeit, Clem, them swarthy furriners all look alike. They both have beards and wear turbans. They both talk funny and they both attacked us on 9/11.

When you combine racial hatred with bone-stupid ignorance, this is what happens.

Last March in Elk Grove, CA, two elderly Sikh men were gunned down while they were out strolling (in the daytime) in their own neighborhood. Since the 9/11 attacks there’s been a huge increase in the number of hate crimes against Sikhs. A spokesman for the Sikh Coalition, a civil rights group, said:

“When people look at me with a turban and beard, the first thing that comes to mind is, ‘that guy looks like Osama bin Laden.’”

Sikhs are from India and practice their own 500-year-old religion — Sikhism — which is completely unrelated to Islam. But try explaining that to a mouth-breathing redneck.

And today’s redneck story out of Arizona (or is that a redundancy?): Arizona state rep. Lori Klein was showing off her gun to a journalist who was interviewing her. They were talking about her views on gun control, and right in the middle of their conversation, she pulled out her raspberry-pink .380 Ruger and said “isn’t it cute” while pointing it at the reporter’s chest.

The gun was loaded and she didn’t have the safety on. But not to worry — “I just didn’t have my hand on the trigger.”

What a stupid idiot, gun loaded, safety off and pointing it at someone. And then to top it off, she says "I just didn't have my hand on the trigger".

Someone needs to tell this Einstein that you don't put your hand on the trigger! You put your f***king finger on the trigger!

A few years ago, an Iranian Co-worker got beaten up by white men while we were in desert Storm. "I tried to tell them I'm Iranian not Iraqi", I had to explain to him and they didn't know the difference, nor did they care.

Look up Vincent Chin who was killed by some laid off Detroit autoworkers who were pissed at Japanese Competition taking their jobs.

Problem is Chin was Chinese.

So much for the land of the free, where people are free to gun down everybody they don't like, don't agree with, or that looks foreign.

Note that pointing a loaded gun at someone is illegal even in Arizona unless you're stopping a crime in progress (what they define as "defensive display"). It's called "brandishing a firearm", and for a case like this it's treated like disorderly conduct and for a first offense typically punished with a large fine with a few hours in jail between your arrest and making bail. Not that I expect Sheriff Joke to be arresting this dingbat anytime soon. Republican nitwits protect their own, after all.

"'When people — including some politicians — try to stigmatize all Muslims as anti-American,' Shergill said, all people who look different are targeted unfairly.

"'When the process becomes radicalized, that's when the disturbed actors take out on Sikhs and Muslims and people who are perceived to be Muslims,'" he said."

Shergill said it all right there. Our society has its share of sick puppies and then some, plus political exploiters and professional demagogues like Beck and Limbaugh to egg those sick puppies on.

Would Klein take her pink pistol to a diverse neighborhood looking to kill someone too different for her taste? Probably not. But if someone like that were to, say, stop and try to help her with a flat tire along a quiet street or road, he might get shot for his kindness. That's the atmosphere the exploiters and demagogues create.

Number one...what is this gender specific hand gun shit? Have we gone totally insane? A PINK handgun? Hell, my youngest daughter thinks pink, but mostly about Barbies, and Littlest Pet Shop Puppies. WTF?

Number two...any asshole who points a gun at me, finger/hand whatever not on it, is going to get it jammed up their redneck ass. Pure and simple.

As to the Sikh tragedy, I don't know how we get rid of cretins in our society...they are there. I have been dealing with these boneheads all of my long life, and in the last decade or so, they seem to be breeding like rabbits to the point of being engulfed by them. Which indicates to me as a species, we are fucked.

Jerry: Maybe she has tiny hands.

Erik: I remember the Vincent Chin murder. Japanese, Chinese, they're all the same. His murderers got acquitted if I remember right.

Randal: Racist.

Jack: Good old "Second Amendment Remedies" in action.

BT: Maybe she thought the reporter was committing a "crime in progress" by asking her questions. Nope, she won't be penalized in any way.

SW: That would be ironic indeed if she shot a Good Samaritan who was trying to help her.

jadedj: Racist cretins sure do seem to be multiplying like rabbits. We could very well be a failed species.

When I moved here from UK, I felt so welcome in this country. No one called me names or looked at me strangely because I wear a turban. California has been my home for last 20 years but it all changed after 9/11. Now I have been called "Osama", "Terrorist", "Arab", and "Taliban" on the streets. Most American are tolerant and can tell a difference between a Sikh from India and an Arab. But there are many who are ignorant and don't get it. I fear for my family and my sons everyday of my life.
