Bulletin: Terrorist Plot to Cripple American Agriculture

It had to happen. They've already flown airliners into highrises and tried to poison the population with anthrax. And now this: Some gang of terrorist wackos is planning to spread foot and mouth disease throughout America.

This disease does not affect humans but it's highly contagious to animals. The smallest outbreak would kill tens of millions of farm animals. America's agriculture would be devastated overnight by this attack.

Here are a few sketchy details of this sick twisted scheme.

Not much is known about this group's leader, but a few photos of him are available here, here and here. If you know anything about this deranged nutjob or his whereabouts, please contact authorities immediately.

I read about this "plot" in the morning's paper. Your version of it is much more correct!

Vice: I couldn't believe it when I saw that story this morning. Every time you think this administration couldn't sink any lower, they do.

"No one could have foreseen the breach of the laboratory safety guards."

And when it happens, idiots on both the left and right will chalk it up to incompetence. These guys know exactly what they're doing.

Randal: Yup, you've got it. It's Katrinagate and Iraqmire rolled into one. The surprising breach of the levees, plus "gee, I guess there isn't some sort of freedom gene after all, that would automatically kick in when a dictator has been overthrown." "Gee, I guess Saddam Hussein had such a tight grip on everything that when he was overthrown, everything came unglued and destabilized."

I was just stunned to think this administration would want to do such a thing, but then I thought about whom this administration consists of.

This guy plans to leave this job as every other job he has left, in shambles.

Let's Talk: I'm afraid that's it. I think Dumbya has realized that his legacy is going to be Godawful no matter what else he does, so he might as well go out in a blaze of glory by being as destructive as he possibly can.

Sometimes I wonder if population reduction isn't part of his real agenda.

Lew: I wouldn't doubt it. But in this case, foot and mouth disease only kills animals -- by the millions. Unless he's counting on having thousands of farmers starve to death after their livelihoods disappear. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

When will this nightmare stop?

Have you read The Hot Zone? It's a true story that happened in Reston, Virginia. A strain of Ebola mutated and became airborne at a primate research lab. The reason we're all still here to talk about it is that it was fatal to the monkeys, but not humans. This time. The lab was next-door to a day-care center. That's not the scary part.

This is the scary part. You'd think from all the Hollywood movies that Bio-mat teams encased in protective gear would have immediately come storming in to isolate the lab, right? Wrong. It was DAYS before anything was done because nobody could figure out who to report to or who had jurisdiction, or even the right, to take over. This was a privately owned lab, you see.

This is just another FUBAR waiting to happen.

Have you noticed the Chimpletons no longer even try to defend the monkey? Even they realize on some level that Chimpy doesn't give a damn about the health and safety of the American people.

I miss the good old days when they'd actually comment, and give me something to go after. Really I do.

Candace: God Damn! I never heard about that. But at this point nothing is surprising any more.

I've heard rumors about environmental extremists who would like to wipe out the human species (doubtful). But now we have to wonder whether our own government (and their clones in the "private sector") would like to do this.

If I wasn't already so jaded, I'd be very afraid.

JR: That's true. As hollow as it is when some empty suit makes a meaningless comment to soothe the masses, it's still comforting in some small way.

I wouldn't trust Bush to watch my coat while I took a leak at the bar, if you know what I mean. Who voted this clown in charge of a whole country? Oh. That's right. No one.

Ron: Nope, Bush can't be trusted for anything. Bush could only be counted on to watch something if it had a case of bourbon attached to it, and then he'd probably steal it.

That Dick Cheney quote from '91 still blows me away. How could a guy who was that insightful have allowed himself to be hijacked by a bunch of disgruntled Scoop Jackson protoges? It's mind-numbing, I'm telling you.

Will: Yup, that quote is pretty amazing. I figure Cheney is pulling Bush's strings, but apparently some even shadier people are telling Cheney what to do. The PNAC maybe, or maybe there are other higher-up even more shadowy people calling the shots. Curiouser and curiouser.

Constantly striving to achieve new levels of dumbassery. It's stunning. I can't think of anything more to say than that. 280 more days.

Carlos: Yup, new levels of dumbassery, that's what this administration keeps striving for. Every time they hit a new low, I figure they couldn't possibly sink any lower, but they always do. And they probably will again.
