After Arizona Shooting, Republicans Stress Need for Mental Health Services
Straight from the cover of DUUUHHH!!! Magazine — the Tucson Massacre might have been prevented if Jared Loughner had had access to mental health facilities. No, you aren’t hallucinating. Two Republicans have actually said this.
Well HELLLOO and welcome back to Earth after your 30-year coma. Since 1980, Republicans have been systematically dismantling every aspect of America’s safety net, including mental health facilities. Let’s save a few dollars by closing all these mental hospitals and dumping patients onto the street. This will free them from the tyranny of the nanny state, they’ll pull themselves up by their bootstraps, and someday they’ll thank us.
And now, a few Republicans are just horrified that — gasp! — mentally ill people are roaming the streets, and sometimes they get violent. Who knew??!?!?!?
Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Michigan) said:
“What will solve this problem is removing the politics from it and getting after the crux of this problem and that is somebody who needed mental health services and or legal intervention much earlier in his cycle toward violence. What we have to do is intervene earlier in that cycle of violence when they have this kind of mental disability.”
Allen West (R—Florida) said:
“The shooter was a very disturbed individual and it appears there were so many warning signs that he was going to do something horrible. We should be focusing on the mental health crisis in our country, not politics.”
Focusing on mental health?? But how can we invade other countries and keep feeding the Prison Industrial Complex if we have to spend taxpayers' hard-earned money coddling a bunch of parasites who won’t work?
America’s Founding Father is turning in his grave.

I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad.
I love the smell of lip service in the morning.
Wait, what. Are they really not seeing the disconnect here with their logic? These republicans are talking about repealing healthcare, which by the way has new rules relating to mental health services but they think mental health services should be available. If this was not so serious a topic, I would laugh and point at how inept they are.
And those words will be the end of it.
What Tim said.
Great link there at the end... so painfully true, that so many of these blowhards don't know of any American than what they have been spoon-fed for the last 30 years...
Is that the best you have?
Tim: You're right, funny and sad both.
Randal: Lip service and crocodile tears, the 2 best morning scents ever.
Jess: "Republicans" and "seeing the disconnect" in the same sentence? That's the best oxymoron I've seen all day :)
Dave: I was surprised they even bothered with the empty words.
Snave: Yup, this great nation was founded 30 years ago by Ronald Reagan; He has taught us everything we know. Who needs Jesus when we have Ronald Reagan?

Take note on how we should take responsibility for our Health Care and do what he does, running a few miles and doing crunches.
And criticizing the President for not putting himself in harms way
in a war zone
He wants to repeal Health Care but not his Veterans Benefits
Erik
@Erik, I can tell you from personal experience, not one crunch or an extra couple miles running, will stop you from getting cancer or damaging a couple bones in your neck, shoulder and collarbone. Been there, done that and even got the tee shirt for it, both times even :). West is another idiot, that should have been a Maomart greeter instead of a congressman.
Erik: Allen West does crunches??? Pavel Tsatsouline might want to have a word with him :)
Jess: Yes, a Maomart greeter would be a much more suitable job for him.
