More Bush Assaults on the Environment

George W. Bush is already known for having more contempt for the environment than any previous president. He makes Ronald Reagan look like a starry-eyed hippie gazing at a redwood forest. It’s probably redundant to even talk about his latest assaults on wildlife. It’s like saying David Duke is a racist, or Grover Norquist hates people who work for a living.

But every time you think Bush couldn’t possibly do anything else to the environment — couldn’t possibly become any more of a douchebag — he does.

Bush has singlehandedly overturned a federal court ruling. I didn’t know he was a judge. Did you? A federal court had ruled that the U.S. Navy has to follow certain precautions so that their high-power sonar equipment doesn’t damage marine life. Bush said Nuh Uh.

We’re fighting a War on Tur; we don’t have time to get all touchy-feely about whales and porpoises. An al Qaeda submarine might sneak past the U.S. Navy and stage another 9/11 attack. Uh, that word again was: 9/11.

Also, Bush’s Interior Department has abandoned efforts to save the few remaining Jaguars in southern New Mexico and Arizona. If any of these areas near the U.S.-Mexican border were designated as critical habitat for Jaguars, it might jeopardize our brand spankin’ new border fence. And we need that border fence. We've got hordes of dark-skinned savages pouring into our country from Mexico and you're getting all maudlin over a few Jaguars?

We have 367 more days of this asshole stenching up the White House. (Or if you're in the military, that’s 366 and a wakeup.) Whoever takes his place has to be an improvement.

It never ceases to to amaze me how evil he is. I hope that his exemption of the Navy is not upheld in court.

Mauigirl: Yup, the amazement just keeps on coming, or the gift that keeps on giving, or something. I'm sure he has the legal right to do this, but it still sucks. A case goes wrangling through the courts, getting overturned, then upheld, then overturned again, and the appeals continue...and then the president just steps in and POOF. End of story. It's not right.

Bush has just sold America's soul to the Saudi's who bombed the U.S. back in 2001 and he's working on an agreement with the puppet president of Iraq to extend the presence of American troops in country forever - and that was just this week! We've got a long way to go

The War on Tur is here in the states! We've got to stop the bastard - he's the Tur! Shoot, we've got to fight 'em over here before they get us over there!

As usual, you made me really laugh ...the War on "Tur". Geez, that's exactly how he says it. You'd think after almost 8 years he'd strive to improve himself... but Nuh-Uh not George, the sword dancing wonder.

KWW: Thanks for stopping by; long time no see. I just commented at your newest post.

Who knows what the deal is between Bush and Saudi Arabia. We annihilate Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11, and then get in bed with Saudi Arabia which produced most of the 9/11 hijackers and has the most control over oil prices. Go figure.

We'll probably have a "presence" in Iraq until Hell freezes over.

Anna: Yup, that's about all we can do for these next 366 days.

I can only hope that we can't do any worse than W, which evidently stands for Witless Wonder. Like an al Qaeda submarine might be confused for a dolphin. (if it did, then wow, they're more advanced than we thought, but really, if these people are hiding out in caves, then I doubt it.)

In the meantime, it's nearly comical how the Bushies think they REALLY are better than all other forms of life and can dispose of whatever (or even whoever) they please. "huh, don't really have much of a need for jaguars, so let's chuck 'em. Can't pet 'em like a housecat. don't need em!" Though I'm even more surprised they wouldn't save all the jaguars and cart them to San Franciso or the Highlands area in Atlanta under the mistaken assumption that, after the whole Sigfried-and-Roy tiger incident, large wild cats are natural predators of gay men with disposable income. That would take care of two problems at once--the Homuhseckshul Agenda and them dang endangered critters needin' a habitat!

Mile High Pixie: LOL. I'm surprised too that the wingnuts haven't tried that. Pack all them endangered critters into a homasexial neighborhood and let 'em have at them perverts.

Maybe they could create a fake gay neighborhood, like that fake village in Blazing Saddles, and trick the wingnuts into putting endangered cats there. They'd think to themselves "we'll fix them kweers" but they'd actually be providing a sanctuary for endangered cats without knowing it.

I'm still laughing my ass off at "the War on Tur."

A student recently said in class to a colleague that "even if the President of the United States walked into the room, [he] still wouldn't change the way [he] talk[s]." My colleague paused for a minute, and replied, "No problem. The President doesn't change the way HE talks, either."

Miss Kitty: Good one. Bush sure isn't gonna change the way he talks or does anything else. In a way you have to respect a politician who talks and acts the same no matter who he's talking to or dealing with. Mostly I just wish he wasn't so dense or meanspirited.
