The Wonders of Modern Medicine

What ever did people do back in those dark ages before the pharmaceutical industry saved us?

Now, thank God, there's a cure for everything.

That was a classic.
Saw it yesterday morning while having coffee and reading the paper.

Most of the medications advertised, the side effects are worse than than the symptom.
I like the antidepressant ads that say may cause thoughts of suicide. You're already depressed, you don't need a medication to suggest a permanent solution.

Lew: You're right, the cure is worse than the disease. That comic strip wasn't really any more absurd than some of the real TV ads. My favorite ad is for some kind of bi-polar medication. Something like "side effects may include involuntary movements that you're unable to stop." No thanks.

Involuntary movements that you're unable to stop? Chimpy must've taken that before his African dance fest. No, that was probably booze.

Randal: That might explain a lot about Dumbya -- the side effects of his bi-polar medication interacting with the bourbon.

Oh that was really funny yet true Tom.

This is why I agree with Bill from Real Time on HBO. Everything we take has a side effect worse than what we try to get rid of.

Let's Talk: Yup, that strip was funny but also too true.
