Welcome to the Winter Park School of Economics
The Powers That Be in Winter Park, FL are the worst entrepreneurs in the history of economics. Either that, or they’re the most blatant example yet that union busting has nothing whatsoever to do with balancing budgets.
The government of Winter Park is so terrified that their 150 municipal employees might join a union, that they’re paying $2,500 a day for the services of a union-busting “consultant.” That must be one mighty expensive union their employees are thinking of joining.
Winter Park has hired Kulture LLC — “a firm specializing in labor relations.” Riiight. And the Ku Klux Klan is a group of race relations consultants.
Winter Park city employees will be voting in June or July whether or not to join the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). And apparently they’ll need a little, uh, “persuasion” in the meantime.
So, what’s your take? Is Winter Park being governed by the dumbest business people ever? Or was there an ulterior motive for hiring Kulture LLC?

At first I thought Kulture LLC might be the name of a rapper. Maybe LL Cool J's cousin...
Looking at their website requires brain bleach afterwards. Recommended sites to visit: Ayn Rand institue, Federalist papers,Cato inst, most of them right leaning. Let's not forget 1888 no union.com. Hey they are just a non partisan group that wants to do what's best for the city. They are not even trying to hide the hate towards middle class public employees anymore, like they used to. What's up with that? No need for an answer, I know already, but hey Lisa might come and enlighten us as to why this is a good thing so there is that sliver of goodness. Oh yeah, that last sentence, truly sarcasm in case anyone thinks otherwise.

Interesting site... Hmmmm. Why are progressives against sweatshops? Why... because liberals hate the free market!!!
Nah. That's pretty much the conservatives' standard answer to most things anymore.
I'd say maybe Kulture LLC specializes in doing whatever it can to further the right-wing agenda of the ultra-rich! Fewer unions, fewer obstacles, right?
If Winter Park officials were treating their employees fairly and competitively, those employees probably wouldn't be looking to join a union. Ergo, Winter Park officials want to be able to treat their employees less than fairly and noncompetitively, and get away with doing that, with no union interference.
